So when Joseph arrived, his brothers ripped off his robe—the colorful long-sleeved robe he was wearing— grabbed him and threw him into a pit. (The pit was empty—it didn't have any water in it.) They were just sitting down to have a meal when they saw a caravan of Ishmaelites coming from Gilead. Their camels were carrying aromatic spices, balm, and myrrh to take to Egypt.
