2 Chronicles 22
22
1The people of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, Jehoram's youngest son, king in succession to his father, since the invaders who had entered the camp with the Arabians had killed all the older sons. So Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, became king of Judah. 2Ahaziah was twenty-two#22:2. “Twenty-two”: according to 2 Kings 8:26. Here his age is given in the Hebrew text as forty-two. when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem for one year. His mother's name was Athaliah, the granddaughter of Omri. 3Ahaziah also followed the evil ways of the family of Ahab, for his mother encouraged him to do wicked things. 4He did what was evil in the Lord's sight, just as the family of Ahab had done. For after his father's death they were his counselors, to his ruin.
5He also followed their advice in joining with Joram, son of Ahab, king of Israel, in attacking Hazael, king of Aram, in Ramoth-gilead. The Arameans wounded Joram, 6and he returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds he'd received in Ramah fighting against Hazael king of Aram. Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went to Jezreel to visit Joram, son of Ahab, because Joram was wounded. 7Ahaziah's downfall came from God when he went to see Joram. When Ahaziah got there, he went with Joram to meet Jehu, son#22:7. Actually “grandson.” His father was Jehoshaphat. of Nimri. The Lord had anointed Jehu to destroy Ahab and his family.
8While Jehu was carrying out judgment on the family of Ahab, he came across the leaders of Judah and Ahaziah's relatives#22:8. “Azariah's relatives”: Septuagint reading. See also 2 Kings 10:13. Hebrew: “sons of Ahaziah's brothers.” who were assisting Ahaziah, and he killed them. 9Then Jehu went looking for Ahaziah. His men found him in Samaria and captured him, and took him to Jehu where they killed him. They buried him, for they said, “He is the grandson of Jehoshaphat, who was completely committed to following the Lord.” There was no one left from Ahaziah's family to rule the kingdom.
10When Athaliah Ahaziah's mother found out that her son was dead, she proceeded to kill all who remained of the royal family of Judah. 11But Jehoshabeath, daughter of King Jehoram, grabbed Joash, son of Ahaziah, and took him from the sons of the king who were about to be killed, and she placed him and his nurse in a bedroom. Because Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram and the wife of Jehoiada the priest, was Ahaziah's sister, she hid Joash from Athaliah so she couldn't kill him. 12And they kept Joash hidden with them in God's Temple for six years while Athaliah ruled the country.

2 Chronicles 22
1¶ And the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, his youngest son, king in his stead; for the band of men that came with the Arabians to the camp had slain all the elder sons. So Ahaziah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah reigned.
2Ahaziah was forty-two years old {another text: twenty-two} when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri.
3He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother was his counsellor to do wickedly.
4Therefore, he did evil in the sight of the Lord like the house of Ahab, for they were his counsellors, after the death of his father, to his destruction.
5And He walked after their counsel and went with Jehoram, the son of Ahab, king of Israel, to war against Hazael, king of Syria at Ramothgilead, where the Syrians smote Joram.
6And he returned to be healed in Jezreel because of the wounds which were given him at Ramah, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria. And Azariah, the son of Jehoram, king of Judah went down to see Jehoram, the son of Ahab, at Jezreel, because he was there sick.
7But this was of God so that Ahaziah would be tread under foot by coming to Joram; for when he was come, he went out with Jehoram to encounter Jehu, the son of Nimshi, whom the Lord had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab.
8And it came to pass that when Jehu was executing judgment upon the house of Ahab and found the princes of Judah and the sons of the brethren of Ahaziah, that ministered to Ahaziah, he slew them.
9And he sought Ahaziah, and they caught him (for he had hid himself in Samaria) and brought him to Jehu; and when they had slain him, they buried him, Because, they said, He is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the Lord with all his heart. So the house of Ahaziah had no strength to be able to retain the kingdom.
10¶ So when Athaliah, the mother of Ahaziah, saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal seed of the house of Judah.
11But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, took Joash, the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons that were being slain, and kept him and his nurse in the bedchamber. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of king Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada, the priest (for she was the sister of Ahaziah) hid him from Athaliah, so that she slew him not.
12And he was with them hid in the house of God six years; and Athaliah reigned over the land.
