1 Chronicles 14
14
1Then Hiram, king of Tyre, sent messengers to David along with cedar timber, stonemasons, and carpenters to build him a palace. 2In this way David realized that the Lord had placed him on the throne as king of Israel and had blessed him by supporting his kingdom for the sake of the Lord's people Israel. 3David married more wives in Jerusalem, and had more sons and daughters. 4This is a list of the names of the children he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, 5Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, 6Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, 7Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
8When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all of Israel, they gathered their whole army to go after him. But David heard they were coming and went out to confront them. 9The Philistines arrived and raided the valley of Rephaim.
10David consulted God, asking “Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you make me victorious over them?”
“Go ahead,” the Lord told him, “I will make you victorious over them.”
11So David attacked and defeated them there at Baal-perazim. “God used me to defeat my enemies like a torrent of water that bursts out,” he declared. That's why the place was named Baal-perazim.#14:11. Baal-perazim means “the Lord bursts through.” 12The Philistines had left their gods behind, so David gave orders that they should be burned.
13However, the Philistines returned and made another raid on the valley. 14David consulted God again. “Don't make a frontal attack,” God told him. “Instead go around behind them and attack them in front of the balsam trees. 15As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, go and attack for the Lord has gone before you to strike down the Philistine army.” 16So David did what God told him, striking down the Philistine army all the way from Gibeon to Gezer.
17As a result David's reputation was spread everywhere, and the Lord made all the nations afraid of David.

1 Chronicles 14
14
1 Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David with cedar trees, masons, and carpenters, to build him a house. 2David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, for his kingdom was highly exalted, for his people Israel’s sake.
3 David took more wives in Jerusalem, and David became the father of more sons and daughters. 4These are the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, 5Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, 6Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, 7Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
8 When the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went out against them. 9Now the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim. 10David enquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?”
The LORD said to him, “Go up; for I will deliver them into your hand.”
11 So they came up to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there. David said, God has broken my enemies by my hand, like waters breaking out. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim.#14:11 “Baal Perazim” means “The Lord who breaks out”. 12They left their gods there; and David gave a command, and they were burnt with fire.
13 The Philistines made another raid in the valley. 14David enquired again of God; and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them. Turn away from them, and come on them opposite the mulberry trees. 15When you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then go out to battle; for God has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.”
16 David did as God commanded him; and they attacked the army of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gezer. 17The fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORD brought the fear of him on all nations.
