S. Mark 1
1
1The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. 2Even as it is written in Isaiah the prophet, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, Who shall prepare thy way; 3The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make ye ready the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight; 4John came, who baptized in the wilderness and preached the baptism of repentance unto remission of sins. 5And there went out unto him all the country of Judaea, and all they of Jerusalem; and they were baptized of him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. 6And John was clothed with camel's hair, and had a leathern girdle about his loins, and did eat locusts and wild honey. 7And he preached, saying, There cometh after me he that is mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose. 8I baptized you with water; but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
9And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in the Jordan. 10And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens rent asunder, and the Spirit as a dove descending upon him: 11And a voice came out of the heavens, Thou art my beloved Son, in thee I am well pleased. 12And straightway the Spirit driveth him forth into the wilderness. 13And he was in the wilderness forty days tempted of Satan; and he was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.
14Now after that John was delivered up, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, 15and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe in the gospel. 16And passing along by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net in the sea: for they were fishers. 17And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. 18And straightway they left the nets, and followed him. 19And going on a little further, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending the nets. 20And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went after him. 21And they go into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue and taught. 22And they were astonished at his teaching: for he taught them as having authority, and not as the scribes.
23And straightway there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, 24saying, What have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. 25And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. 26And the unclean spirit, tearing him and crying with a loud voice, came out of him. 27And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What is this? a new teaching! with authority he commandeth even the unclean spirits, and they obey him. 28And the report of him went out straightway everywhere into all the region of Galilee round about.
29And straightway, when they were come out of the synagogue, they came into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 30Now Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever; and straightway they tell him of her: 31and he came and took her by the hand, and raised her up; and the fever left her, and she ministered unto them. 32And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were sick, and them that were possessed with devils. 33And all the city was gathered together at the door. 34And he healed many that were sick with divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and he suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him. 35And in the morning, a great while before day, he rose up and went out, and departed into a desert place, and there prayed. 36And Simon and they that were with him followed after him; 37and they found him, and say unto him, All are seeking thee. 38And he saith unto them, Let us go elsewhere into the next towns, that I may preach there also; for to this end came I forth. 39And he went into their synagogues throughout all Galilee, preaching and casting out devils.
40And there cometh to him a leper, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 41And being moved with compassion, he stretched forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou made clean. 42And straightway the leprosy departed from him, and he was made clean. 43And he strictly charged him, and straightway sent him out, 44and saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing the things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. 45But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to spread abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into a city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.

Mark (Mrk) 1
1
1The beginning of the Good News of Yeshua the Messiah, the Son of God:
2It is written in the prophet Yesha‘yahu,
“See, I am sending my messenger ahead of you;
he will prepare the way before you.”
3“The voice of someone crying out:
‘In the desert prepare the way for Adonai!
Make straight paths for him!’”
4So it was that Yochanan the Immerser appeared in the desert, proclaiming an immersion involving turning to God from sin in order to be forgiven. 5People went out to him from all over Y’hudah, as did all the inhabitants of Yerushalayim. Confessing their sins, they were immersed by him in the Yarden River. 6Yochanan wore clothes of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist; he ate locusts and wild honey. 7He proclaimed: “After me is coming someone who is more powerful than I — I’m not worthy even to bend down and untie his sandals. 8I have immersed you in water, but he will immerse you in the Ruach HaKodesh.”
9Shortly thereafter, Yeshua came from Natzeret in the Galil and was immersed in the Yarden by Yochanan. 10Immediately upon coming up out of the water, he saw heaven torn open and the Spirit descending upon him like a dove; 11then a voice came from heaven, “You are my Son, whom I love; I am well pleased with you.”
12Immediately the Spirit drove him out into the wilderness, 13and he was in the wilderness forty days being tempted by the Adversary. He was with the wild animals, and the angels took care of him.
14After Yochanan had been arrested, Yeshua came into the Galil proclaiming the Good News from God:
15“The time has come,
God’s Kingdom is near!
Turn to God from your sins
and believe the Good News!”
16As he walked beside Lake Kinneret, he saw Shim‘on and Andrew, Shim‘on’s brother, casting a net into the lake; for they were fishermen. 17Yeshua said to them, “Come, follow me, and I will make you into fishers for men!” 18At once they left their nets and followed him.
19Going on a little farther, he saw Ya‘akov Ben-Zavdai and Yochanan, his brother, in their boat, repairing their nets. 20Immediately he called them, and they left their father Zavdai in the boat with the hired men and went after Yeshua.
21They entered K’far-Nachum, and on Shabbat Yeshua went into the synagogue and began teaching. 22They were amazed at the way he taught, for he did not instruct them like the Torah-teachers but as one who had authority himself.
23In their synagogue just then was a man with an unclean spirit in him, who shouted, 24“What do you want with us, Yeshua from Natzeret? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are — the Holy One of God!” 25But Yeshua rebuked the unclean spirit, “Be quiet and come out of him!” 26Throwing the man into a convulsion, it gave a loud shriek and came out of him. 27They were all so astounded that they began asking each other, “What is this? A new teaching, one with authority behind it! He gives orders even to the unclean spirits, and they obey him!” 28And the news about him spread quickly through the whole region of the Galil.
29They left the synagogue and went with Ya‘akov and Yochanan to the home of Shim‘on and Andrew. 30Shim‘on’s mother-in-law was lying sick with a fever, and they told Yeshua about her. 31He came, took her by the hand and lifted her onto her feet. The fever left her, and she began helping them.
32That evening after sundown, they brought to Yeshua all who were ill or held in the power of demons, 33and the whole town came crowding around the door. 34He healed many who were ill with various diseases and expelled many demons, but he did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew who he was.
35Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Yeshua got up, left, went away to a lonely spot and stayed there praying. 36But Shim‘on and those with him went after him; 37and when they found him, they said, “Everybody is looking for you.” 38He answered, “Let’s go somewhere else — to the other villages around here. I have to proclaim the message there too — in fact this is why I came out.” 39So he traveled all through the Galil, preaching in their synagogues and expelling demons.
40A man afflicted with tzara‘at came to Yeshua and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.” 41Moved with pity, Yeshua reached out his hand, touched him and said to him, “I am willing! Be cleansed!” 42Instantly the tzara‘at left him, and he was cleansed. 43Yeshua sent him away with this stern warning: 44“See to it that you tell no one; instead, as a testimony to the people, go and let the cohen examine you, and offer for your cleansing what Moshe commanded.” 45But he went out and began spreading the news, talking freely about it; so that Yeshua could no longer enter a town openly but stayed out in the country, where people continued coming to him from all around.
