Revelation 16

Seven Bowls Are Poured Out
1Then I heard a loud voice from within the sanctuary telling the seven angels, “Go and pour out on the earth the seven bowls of the wrath # 16:1 The Aramaic word can be translated “passion.” of God.”
2So the first angel poured his bowl upon the earth, causing ugly and painful sores to break out on the people who had the mark of the wild beast and worshiped his image.
3Then the second angel poured his bowl into the sea, and it became like the blood of the dead—every living thing in the sea died.
4The third angel poured his bowl into the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood. And I heard the angel of the waters say:
5“O holy One, who are and were, you are righteous,
for you have judged these things, # 16:5 Or “because you have passed these judgments.”
6because they shed the blood of your saints and prophets.
They got what they deserved,
for you gave them blood to drink!”
7Then I heard a voice from before the altar reply:
“Yes, O Lord God, the Almighty!
Every judicial verdict you make is just and right.”
8Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and it began to burn the people with a scorching heat. 9Though they endured the fierce heat, yet the people continued to blaspheme God. They cursed the name of God, who had authority over these plagues, and refused to repent and give him glory.
10The fifth angel poured his bowl on the throne of the wild beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People were in agony and gnawed their tongues 11and cursed the God of heaven because of their painful sores, # 16:11 Or “because of their pains and sores.” refusing to repent of their deeds.
12The sixth angel poured his bowl on “the good and abounding river,” # 16:12 Or “Euphrates,” which means “the good and abounding river.” and it completely dried up in order to prepare the way for the kings of the east. # 16:12 Or “for the kings from the rising of the sun.” 13Then I saw three unclean spirits like frogs belched from the mouths of the dragon, the wild beast, and the false prophet. 14They were demonic spirits # 16:14 Or “demon-gods.” performing signs, and they entered into the kings of the world to draw them into battle on the great day of God, the Almighty.
15“Behold, I come # 16:15 Or “continually [repeatedly] come.” like a thief! God’s blessing is with the one who remains awake and fully clothed in me and will not walk about naked, exposed to disgrace.”
16The demonic spirits assembled the kings together at the place called in Hebrew the “Mount of the Governor.” # 16:16 Or “Armageddon.” The Greek word for “Armageddon” comes from the word meged, which can be translated “precious fruit,” “excellent,” “choice things,” “pleasant things.” Armageddon can also be viewed as a realm where both good and evil is gathered together. The battle on God’s great day includes the war within the hearts of mankind.
17The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out from the temple and from the throne, saying:
“Here it comes!” # 16:17 Or “It has come to be” as in “to give birth.” The Greek word is ginomai (similar to our English word genome) and is translated three times in Rom. 7:3–4 as “married.”
18Then there were flashes of lightning, voices, crashes of thunder, and a massive earthquake—the most severe to shake the earth since the creation of man, so tremendous was that earthquake! 19It split the great city Babylon into three parts, and other cities of the nations collapsed. For God remembered great Babylon and her winecup filled with his fiery wrath. 20Every island fled away and the mountains were no more. 21Enormous hailstones, each weighing nearly one hundred pounds, # 16:21 Or “weighing about a talent.” A talent was a monetary measure of gold, silver, or brass, believed to weigh about ninety-five pounds. fell from the sky and struck the people, yet they continued to curse God because of the horrendous plague of hail.

1And I heard a loud voice from the Dwelling Place saying to the seven messengers, “Go and pour out the bowls of the wrath of Elohim on the earth.”
2And the first went and poured out his bowl upon the earth, and an evil and wicked sore came upon the men, those having the mark of the beast and those worshipping his image.
3And the second messenger poured out his bowl on the sea, and it became blood, as of a dead one, and every living creature in the sea died.
4And the third messenger poured out his bowl on the rivers and fountains of water, and they became blood.
5And I heard the messenger of the waters saying, “You are righteous, O יהוה, the One who is and who was and who shall be, because You have judged these.
6“Because they have shed the blood of set-apart ones and prophets, and You have given them blood to drink. For they deserve it.”
7And I heard another out of the slaughter-place saying, “Yes, יהוה Ěl Shaddai, true and righteous are Your judgments.”
8And the fourth messenger poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was given to him to burn men with fire.
9And men were burned with great heat, and they blasphemed the Name of Elohim who possesses authority over these plagues. And they did not repent, to give Him esteem.
10And the fifth messenger poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his reign became darkened. And they gnawed their tongues from pain.
11And they blasphemed the Elohim of the heaven for their pains and their sores, and did not repent of their works.
12And the sixth messenger poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, in order to prepare the way of the sovereigns from the east.
13And I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits, as frogs,
14for they are spirits of demons, doing signs, which go out to the sovereigns of the entire world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of יהוה the Almighty.
15“See, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who is staying awake and guarding his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”
16And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Har Meḡiddo.
17And the seventh messenger poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the Dwelling Place of the heaven, from the throne, saying, “It is done!”
18And there came to be noises and thunders and lightnings. And there came to be a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake as had not came to be since men were on the earth.
19And the great city became divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And great Baḇel was remembered before Elohim, to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath.
20And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.
21And great hail from the heaven fell upon men, every hailstone about the weight of a talent. And men blasphemed Elohim for the plague of the hail, because that plague was exceedingly great.
