Zechariah 3:9

The Word encourages us to resist every enemy - even when our enemy is ourselves - and teaches us to receive Jesus’ victory in our lives.

Often we are caught up in the urgent demands of the day-to-day, and then years go by, and we realize we have not been making the small choices that will get us where we actually wanted to be. Learn how Zerubbabel set an example of persevering and saying YES to the next small brave step God asked of him.

The call for God's covenant people, in Zechariah 9:12, ‘Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope’, is the key verse for this series. The hope that Zechariah proclaims is hope in God as King, hope that God has come to dwell with us, and hope that the covenant between God and God’s people will be restored. This is the sure hope that holds us captive.

Five hundred years before Jesus was born, the prophet Zechariah was already painting his portrait — a king riding a donkey, a shepherd betrayed for silver, a saviour pierced for his people, a ruler seated beside God himself. Over five days, discover how one of the Old Testament's overlooked books points with startling precision to Jesus — as priest and king, humble king, rejected shepherd, pierced redeemer, and risen Lord. Each day pairs Zechariah's ancient words with their New Testament fulfilment. If you've ever wondered whether the Old Testament really is about Jesus — this is where you'll see it for yourself.
