The Woman and the Scarlet Beast

The Meaning of the Woman and of the Beast
7Then the angel said to me, “Why are you astonished? I will explain to you the mystery of the woman and of the beast, with the seven heads and the ten horns, that carries her. 8The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up from the abyss # 17:8 Ps 140:10; Lk 8:31; Rm 10:7; Rv 9:1,11; 11:7; 20:1–3 and go to destruction. # 17:8 Mt 7:13; Jn 17:12; Rm 9:22; Php 3:19; 2Th 2:3; 2Pt 3:7; Rv 1:18; 2:8 Those who live on the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world # 17:8 Ps 69:28; Is 4:3; Mt 25:34; Eph 1:4; Php 4:3; 1Pt 1:20; Rv 3:5; 13:8; 20:12,15; 21:27 will be astonished when they see the beast that was, and is not, and is to come. # 17:8 Ps 48:5; Rv 13:3,12,14 9This calls for a mind that has wisdom. # 17:9 Or Here is the mind of wisdom,# 17:9 Rv 13:18
“The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is seated. They are also seven kings: 10Five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he comes, he must remain for only a little while. 11The beast that was and is not, is itself an eighth king, but it belongs to the seven and is going to destruction. 12The ten horns you saw are ten kings # 17:12 Dn 7:24; Rv 13:1 who have not yet received a kingdom, but they will receive authority as kings with the beast for one hour. # 17:12 Rv 18:10,17,19 13These have one purpose, and they give their power and authority to the beast. 14These will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will conquer them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings. # 17:14 Dt 10:17; Ps 136:2–3; Dn 2:47; 1Tm 6:15; Rv 1:5; 19:11–21 Those with him are called, chosen, and faithful.” # 17:14 Rv 12:11; 13:8
15He also said to me, “The waters you saw, # 17:15 Jr 51:13 where the prostitute was seated, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and languages. # 17:15 Is 17:12; Jr 51:58; Dn 5:19; Hab 2:8; Rv 5:9; 7:9; 10:11; 11:9; 13:7; 14:6 16The ten horns you saw, and the beast, will hate the prostitute. # 17:16 2Sm 13:15–20; Ezk 23:22–35 They will make her desolate and naked, devour her flesh, and burn her up with fire. # 17:16 Lv 20:14; 21:9 17For God has put it into their hearts to carry out his plan by having one purpose # 17:17 Gn 50:20 and to give their kingdom # 17:17 Or sovereignty to the beast until the words of God are fulfilled. # 17:17 Jr 51:12; Rv 10:7 18And the woman you saw is the great city that has royal power over the kings of the earth.”

1And one of the shiva malachim (seven angels) having the sheva hamakkot (seven plagues) came and spoke with me saying, “Bo! (Come!) I will show you the mishpat (judgment) of the Zonah HaGedolah (the Great Prostitute) sitting on rabbim mayim,#17:1 Isa 23:17; Jer 51:12-13 2With whom the melachim (kings) of kol ha'aretz (all the earth) have committed zenut (fornication) and with the yayin of whose zenut (fornication) kol ha'aretz (all the earth) has fallen into shichrut (drunkenness).” 3And he carried me away into the midbar (wilderness) in the Ruach Hakodesh, and I saw an Isha sitting on a scarlet Chayyah (Beast, Anti-Moshiach) being filled with names of Chillul Hashem gidufim, having sheva (seven) heads and eser (ten) horns. 4And the Isha had been clothed in purple and scarlet, and gilded with zahav (gold) and precious stone and pearls, having a golden kos (cup) in her hand and the kos was full of the abominations and the uncleannesses of her zenut.#17:4 Ezek 28:13; Jer 51:7 5And on her metsakh (forehead) a name had been written: SOD BAVEL HAGEDOLAH EM L'ZONOT V'SHIKKUTZEI HA'ARETZ (“Mystery of Babylon the Great, the Mother of Prostitutes and of the Abominations and Idols of the Earth”). 6And I saw the Isha being drunk, intoxicated from the dahm of the Kedoshim and from the dahm of the edim (witnesses) of Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach.
And when I saw her, I was struck with astonishment. 7And the malach (angel), said to me, “Why did you marvel? I will tell you the Sod HaIsha (the mystery, raz of the woman) and of the Chayyah (Anti-Moshiach) having the sheva heads and the eser (ten) horns carrying her.#17:7 Rv 13:1 8The Chayyah (Anti-Moshiach), which you saw, was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the Tehom (Abyss) and goes to destruction. And the ones dwelling on ha'aretz will be astonished, those whose names have not been found written in the Sefer HaChayyim (Book of Life) from the hivvased tevel (foundation of the world), when they see the Chayyah (Anti-Moshiach) that was, and is not, and is to come. 9This calls for a mind having chochmah (wisdom). The sheva (seven) heads are sheva (seven) mountains. On these the Isha is sitting also, they are shiva (seven) melachim (kings); 10Five of whom have fallen, one is living, and the other did not yet come; and when he comes, it is necessary for him to remain a little zman (time). 11And the Chayyah which was and is not, even he is an Eighth, but belongs to HaShivah (The Seven) and goes to Avaddon (Destruction). 12And the eser (ten) horns which you saw are asarah melachim (ten kings) who have not yet received a malchut, but they are to receive samchut (authority) as melachim (kings), for one hour, together with the Chayyah (Anti-Moshiach). 13These are united in yielding their ko'ach (power) and samchut (authority) to the Chayyah (Anti-Moshiach). 14These with the SEH (Lamb),#17:14 Ex 12:3; Isa 53:7 Moshiach will make milchamah (war), and the SEH (Lamb),#17:14 Ex 12:3; Isa 53:7 Moshiach will conquer them, because He is Adon HaAdonim and Melech HaMelachim; and the ones with him are the Keru'im v'Nivcharim v'Ne'emanim (Called and Chosen and Faithful).”
15And he says to me, “The mayim#17:15 Rv 17:1 which you saw, where the zonah (prostitute) sits, are amim (peoples) and multitudes and Goyim (Nations) and leshonot (languages).#17:15 Isa 8:7; Jer 47:2 16And the eser (ten) horns which you saw and the Chayyah (Anti-Moshiach) — these will have sin'ah (hatred) for the zonah (prostitute), and they will make her desolate and naked and will eat her basar and will burn her up in eish.#17:16 Ezek 16:37,39 17For Hashem has put it into the levavot (hearts) of them to accomplish his purpose by their acting with one mind and by giving their malchut (kingdom) to the Chayyah (Anti-Moshiach) until will be fulfilled the divrei Hashem.#17:17 Jer 39:16 18And the Isha whom you saw is the Ir Hagedolah (Great City) that rules over the melachim (kings) of ha'aretz.”
