At the core of it, discipleship is taking care of and tending all the things Jesus commanded us. Yet how can we know what to do if we don't know His words? That is why we're exploring all of Jesus' words across the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Each day includes a Bible narration from Ps Mark Varughese of the words of Jesus. NOTE: the translation used in the narration is the New King James Version.

The Lent Project is an initiative of Biola University's Center for Christianity, Culture and the Arts. Each daily devotion includes a portion of Scripture, a devotional, a prayer, a work of visual art or a video, a piece of music, and a poem plus brief commentaries on the artworks and artists. The Seven Last Words of Christ refers to the seven short phrases uttered by Jesus on the cross, as gathered from the four Christian gospels. This devotional project connects word, image, voice and song into daily meditations on these words.

When we read the Bible, we’re dealing with the words of the Creator of the universe, spoken to His creation. This plan teaches that it is impossible for us to understand ourselves, our world, or anything else without one thing: God’s word.

If Romans 1–11 is Paul’s masterpiece of Gospel exposition, then Romans 12 is a masterpiece of Gospel application. God, in His mercy, has invited us to offer our whole selves to Him. He transforms us by renewing our minds, and He teaches us to walk in humility and love—even toward our enemies.
