Psalms 84

Psalm 84
Longing for the Temple Worship.
To the Chief Musician; set to a #84:0 A technical musical term, meaning uncertain.Philistine lute. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.
1How lovely are Your dwelling places,
O Lord of hosts!
2My soul (my life, my inner self) longs for and greatly desires the courts of the Lord;
My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God.
3The bird has found a house,
And the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young—
Even Your altars, O Lord of hosts,
My King and my God.
4Blessed and greatly favored are those who dwell in Your house and Your presence;
They will be singing Your praises all the day long. Selah.
5¶Blessed and greatly favored is the man whose strength is in You,
In #84:5 Lit their.whose heart are the highways to Zion.
6Passing through the Valley of Weeping (#84:6 Possibly a kind of plant.Baca), they make it a place of springs;
The early rain also covers it with blessings.
7They go from strength to strength [increasing in victorious power];
Each of them appears before God in Zion.
8¶O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer;
Listen, O God of Jacob! Selah.
9See our shield, O God,
And look at the face of Your anointed [the king as Your representative].
10For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand [anywhere else];
I would rather stand [as a doorkeeper] at the threshold of the house of my God
Than to live [at ease] in the tents of wickedness.
11For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord bestows grace and favor and honor;
No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
12O Lord of hosts,
How blessed and greatly favored is the man who trusts in You [believing in You, relying on You, and committing himself to You with confident hope and expectation].

Psalms 84

Psalm 84
For the choir director; on the gittith; a psalm by Korah’s descendants.
1Your dwelling place is lovely, O Lord of Armies!
2My soul longs and yearns
for the Lord’s courtyards.
My whole body shouts for joy to the living God.
3Even sparrows find a home,
and swallows find a nest for themselves.
There they hatch their young
near your altars, O Lord of Armies, my king and my God.
4Blessed are those who live in your house.
They are always praising you. Selah
5Blessed are those who find strength in you.
Their hearts are on the road ⌞that leads to you⌟.
6As they pass through a valley where balsam trees grow,#84:6 Or “As they pass through the valley of Weeping.”
they make it a place of springs.
The early rains cover it with blessings.#84:6 Or “pools.”
7Their strength grows as they go along
until each one of them appears
in front of God in Zion.
8O Lord God, commander of armies, hear my prayer.
Open your ears, O God of Jacob. Selah
9Look at our shield, O God.
Look with favor on the face of your anointed one.
10One day in your courtyards is better than a thousand ⌞anywhere else⌟.
I would rather stand in the entrance to my God’s house
than live inside wicked people’s homes.
11The Lord God is a sun and shield.
The Lord grants favor and honor.
He does not hold back any blessing
from those who live innocently.
12O Lord of Armies, blessed is the person who trusts you.
