Psalm 132
Prayer for the Lord’s Blessing Upon the Sanctuary.
A Song of #132:0 See Psalm 120 title note.Ascents.
1O Lord, remember on David’s behalf
All his hardship and affliction;
2How he swore to the Lord
And vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:
3“I absolutely will not enter my house,
Nor get into my bed—
4I certainly will not permit my eyes to sleep
Nor my eyelids to slumber,
5Until I find a place for the Lord,
A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob (Israel).” [Acts 7:46]
6¶Behold, we heard of it at Ephrathah;
We found it in the field of Jaar. [1 Sam 6:21]
7Let us go into His tabernacle;
Let us worship at His footstool.
8Arise, O Lord, to Your resting place,
You and the ark [the symbol] of Your strength.
9Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness (right living),
And let Your godly ones shout for joy.
10¶For the sake of Your servant David,
Do not turn away the face of Your anointed.
11The Lord swore to David
A truth from which He will not turn back:
“One of your #132:11 Lit the fruit of your body.descendants I will set upon your throne. [Ps 89:3, 4; Luke 1:69; Acts 2:30, 31]
12“If your children will keep My covenant
And My testimony which I will teach them,
Their children also shall sit upon your throne forever.”
13¶For the Lord has chosen Zion;
He has desired it for His dwelling place:
14“This is My resting place forever” [says the Lord];
“Here will I dwell, for I have desired it.
15“I will abundantly bless her provisions;
I will satisfy her poor with bread.
16“Her priests also I will clothe with salvation,
And her godly ones will shout aloud for joy.
17“There I will make the horn (strength) of David grow;
I have prepared a lamp for My anointed [fulfilling the promises]. [1 Kin 11:36; 15:4; 2 Chr 21:7; Luke 1:69]
18“His enemies I will clothe with shame,
But upon himself shall his crown shine.”

Promise of Ben-David
1A Song of Ascents. Adonai, remember David, all his afflictions,
2and how he swore to Adonai, vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:
3“I will not enter the tent of my house nor lie on my bed,
4nor will I will give sleep to my eyes, nor slumber to my eyelids,
5till I find a place for Adonai, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
6Behold, we heard of it in Ephratha, we found it in the fields of Joar.
7Let us go into His dwelling place, let us bow at His footstool.
8Arise, Adonai, to Your resting place— You, and the Ark of Your might.
9Let Your kohanim wear righteousness, and let Your godly ones sing for joy.
10For Your servant David’s sake do not turn away the face of Your anointed.
11Adonai has sworn to David a true promise He will not revoke: “From the fruit of your body I will set one upon your throne—
12if your children keep My covenant and My law that I will teach them, then their sons will sit on your throne forever.”
13For Adonai has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling:
14“This is My resting place forever. Here I dwell, for I have desired it.
15I will abundantly bless her food. I will satisfy her needy ones with bread.
16I will clothe her kohanim with salvation, and her godly ones will sing aloud for joy.
17There will I make a horn spring up for David, I have set up a lamp for My anointed.
18His enemies I will clothe with shame, but upon himself his crown will shine.”
