If you sell anything to your friend or buy from your friend, you shall not wrong one another. According to the number of years after the Jubilee, you shall buy from your friend. And he is to sell to you according to the number of years of crops [which may be harvested before you must restore the property to him]. If the years [until the next Jubilee] are many, you shall increase the price, but if the years remaining are few, you shall reduce the price, because it is the number of crops that he is selling to you. You shall not wrong one another, but you shall fear your God [with profound reverence]; for I am the LORD your God.

Discipleship works against fear. As we obey God’s commands, we entrust ourselves to him. Like the students attending the schools founded by D. L. Moody in Northfield, MA, God’s people “are encouraged to test the meaning and value of the Bible’s teachings experimentally, by acting upon them, and living them out.” As we “test experimentally” the word of God, we will find that we will have fewer and fewer reasons to be afraid. There are seven themes in Leviticus 25 that depict a twofold movement of God’s acting and our responding, releasing us to the better life God has for us.

Justice is built into everything that exists. That’s why we have a sense of when it’s missing. Justice is not just a piece of God’s character—it’s a picture of it. When we seek justice, we pursue God’s best for everyone, so in this 7-day Plan, we’ll discover the origins of justice, the problem of injustice, our call to act, and God’s good plans to restore all things.
Jesus calls us to love our neighbor as ourselves. But what does that look like in normal, everyday life? What does loving our neighbor require of us, and how is our faith changed as a result? In this 7-day Bible Plan, we’re exploring what it looks like to love our neighbors the way Jesus does through five key areas: well-being, families, education, justice, and community empowerment.
