Psalms 133

PSALM 133
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
1Behold, how good a thing it is,
and how becoming well,
Together such as brethren are
in unity to dwell!
2Like precious ointment on the head,
that down the beard did flow,
Ev'n Aaron's beard, and to the skirts,
did of his garments go.
3As Hermon's dew, the dew that doth
on Sion' hills descend:
For there the blessing God commands,
life that shall never end.

A song of David for going up to the Temple.
1Oh, how wonderful, how pleasing it is
when God’s people all come together as one#133:1 when … as one Or “when brothers live together in peace.”!
2It is like the sweet-smelling oil that is poured over the high priest’s#133:2 high priest’s Literally, “Aaron’s.” head,
that runs down his beard flowing over his robes.
3It is like a gentle rain#133:3 gentle rain Or “mist” or “snow.” The Hebrew can mean either “the oil is like the mist …” or “Aaron’s beard is like the snow ….” from Mount Hermon falling on Mount Zion.
It is there that the Lord has promised his blessing of eternal life.
