Psalms 126

PSALM 126
Common Meter: 8,6,8,6
1When Sion's bondage God turn'd back,
as men that dream'd were we.
2Then fill'd with laughter was our mouth,
our tongue with melody:
They 'mong the heathen said, The Lord
great things for them hath wrought.
3The Lord hath done great things for us,
whence joy to us is brought.
4As streams of water in the south,
our bondage, Lord, recall.
5Who sow in tears, a reaping time
of joy enjoy they shall.
6That man who, bearing precious seed,
in going forth doth mourn,
He doubtless, bringing back his sheaves,
rejoicing shall return.

Psalms 126

Psalm 126
A Song of degrees.
1¶ When the Lord shall turn again the captivity of Zion, we shall be like those that dream.
2Then our mouth shall be filled with laughter and our tongue with singing; then they shall say among the Gentiles, The Lord has done great things with them.
3The Lord has done great things with us, of which we shall be glad.
4¶ Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the south.
5Those that sow with tears shall reap with joy.
6He that goes forth and weeps, bearing the precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
