Markos 13
13
1And as Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach was going out from the Beis HaMikdash, one of his talmidim says to him, Hinei! Rebbe, what large stones and impressive binyanim (buildings)!
2And Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach said to him, Do you see these great binyanim? Not one even (stone) will be left resting on another even (stone). All will be thrown down!
3And Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the Beis HaMikdash having a yechidus (private meeting) with Kefa and Ya'akov and Yochanan and Andrew.
4Tell us when these things will be and what [will be] the ot (sign) when all these things are about to be consummated?
5And Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach began to say to them, Beware lest anyone deceive you.
6For many will come in my name#13:6 i.e., arrogating my title and authority as Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach saying I am [here]. And they will deceive many.#13:6 Jer 29:8
7But when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled. It is necessary for these things to occur, but it is not yet HaKetz (the End).#13:7 of the Olam Hazeh
8For there will be an intifada of ethnic group against ethnic group and malchut against malchut, there will be earthquakes in place after place, [and] there will be famines. These things are but the beginning of the Chevlei.#13:8 Moshiach
9But as for yourselves, take heed and be careful. For they will hand you over to the sanhedrin and in the shuls you will be beaten and before moshlim (governors) and melachim (kings) you will take your stand for the sake of me#13:9 Moshiach as a solemn edut (testimony) to them.
10And it is necessary that the Besuras HaGeulah first be proclaimed to all nations.
11And when they arraign you and hand you over for trial, do not be worried beforehand about what you might say; but whatever is given to you in that hour, this you shall say, for it is not you yourselves who are the ones speaking, but the Ruach Hakodesh.
12And ach will hand over ach to mavet, and Av [his] own yeled, and yeladim will rise up against horim (parents) and cause them to be condemned with onesh mavet (the death penalty).#13:12 Mic 7:6
13And everyone will hate you with sinas chinom (baseless hatred) because of my Name.#13:13 Yehoshua, Yeshua But the one having endured to HaKetz, this one will receive Yeshu'at Eloheinu.
14And when you see the SHIKUTS MESHOMEM#13:14 Dan 9:27; 11:31; 12:11 (the abomination of desolation, the abomination that causes desolation) standing where it ought not — let the one reading this, take heed — then let the ones in Yehudah flee to the mountains.
15And the one on the roof, let him not come down back inside, and let him not enter his bais to take anything away.
16And the one in the sadeh (field) let him not turn back to get his kaftan.
17And oy to the ones with child and the ones with nursing infants in those days.
18But daven tefillos that it may not occur in khoref (winter).
19For in those days will be Tzarah Gedolah (Great Tribulation) of such a kind as has not happened from [the] Reshit Yedei HaBriah (Beginning of the Days of Creation) which Hashem created until now, and never again will be.#13:19 Dan 9:26; 12:1; Yoel 2:2
20And unless Hashem makes those yamim shortened, no one would be delivered in the Yeshu'at Eloheinu. But for the sake of the Bechirim, whom Hashem chose, he shortened the yamim.
21And, then, if someone says to you, Hinei! Here [is] the Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach! Hinei! There! do not have emunah in what they say.
22For meshichei sheker (false moshiachs) will arise, and neviei sheker (false prophets), and they will perform otot and moftim so as to deceive and lead astray, if possible, the Bechirim.#13:22 Dt 13:6,7,11,14
23But you beware. I have forewarned you concerning all things.
24But after the Tzarah#13:24 13:19 of yamim hahem, the shemesh will be darkened, and the levanah will not give its ohr,
25And the kokhavim (stars) will be falling out of Shomayim, and the kochot (powers), the ones in Shomayim, will be shaken.#13:25 Isa 13:10; 34:4; Ezek 32:7-8; Am 8:9; Yoel 2:30f [3:3f]
26And then you will see the BAR ENOSH BA BAANANIM (the Son of Man [Moshiach] coming in clouds)#13:26 Dan 7:13-14 with gevurah rabbah (great power) and kavod (glory).
27And then he will send the malachim and he will gather together his Bechirim#13:27 13:20 from the four winds, from the ends (extremities) of haaretz to the ends (extremities) of Shomayim.#13:27 Zech 2:6
28And from the etz teenah (fig tree) learn the mashal: when by that time its branch has become tender and it puts forth the leaves, you have daas that Kayitz is near;
29So also you, when you see these things happening, have daas that it is near, at the doors.
30Omein, I say to you that by no means HaDor HaZeh passes away until all these things take place.#13:30 Mk 13:24; Mt 27:45
31Shomayim and haaretz will pass away, but the devarim of me#13:31 Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach will by no means pass away.#13:31 Isa 40:8
32But concerning HaYom HaHu or the shaah, no one has daas, neither the malachim in Shomayim nor HaBen, but only HaAv.
33Beware, stay shomer (on guard), for you do not have daas when the time is.
34It is like a man, when departing on a journey and leaving his bais (house) and, having put his avadim (servants) in charge, each with his assigned avodah (work), gives orders to the gatekeeper to be shomer.
35Therefore you be shomer, for you do not have daas when the Baal Bayit comes, either late in the yom or at chatzot halailah or at cockcrow or baboker,
36Lest having come PITOM (suddenly)#13:36 Mal 3:1 he finds you sleeping.
37And what I say to you, I say to all, be shomer.

Mark 13
13
The temple will be destroyed
(Matthew 24.1,2; Luke 21.5,6)
1As Jesus was leaving the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Teacher, look at these beautiful stones and wonderful buildings!”
2Jesus replied, “Do you see these huge buildings? They will certainly be torn down! Not one stone will be left in place.”
Warning about trouble
(Matthew 24.3-14; Luke 21.7-19)
3Later, as Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives across from the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew came to him in private. 4They asked, “When will these things happen? What will be the sign that they are about to take place?”
5Jesus answered:
Watch out and don't let anyone fool you! 6Many will come and claim to be me. They will use my name and fool many people.
7When you hear about wars and threats of wars, don't be afraid. These things will have to happen first, but that isn't the end. 8Nations and kingdoms will go to war against each other. There will be earthquakes in many places, and people will starve to death. But this is just the beginning of troubles.
9Be on your guard! You will be taken to courts and beaten with whips in their meeting places. And because of me, you will have to stand before rulers and kings to tell about your faith.#Mt 10.17-20; Lk 12.11,12. 10But before the end comes, the good news must be preached to all nations.
11When you are arrested, don't worry about what you will say. You will be given the right words when the time comes. But you will not really be the ones speaking. Your words will come from the Holy Spirit.
12Brothers and sisters will betray each other and have each other put to death. Parents will betray their own children, and children will turn against their parents and have them killed. 13Everyone will hate you because of me. But if you keep on being faithful right to the end, you will be saved.#Mt 10.22.
The Horrible Thing
(Matthew 24.15-21; Luke 21.20-24)
Jesus continued:
14Some day you will see that “Horrible Thing” where it should not be.#13.14 where it should not be: Probably the holy place in the temple. Everyone who reads this must try to understand! If you are living in Judea at that time, run to the mountains.#Dn 9.27; 11.31; 12.11. 15If you are on the roof#13.15 roof: See the note at 2.4. of your house, don't go inside to get anything.#Lk 17.31. 16If you are out in the field, don't go back for your coat. 17It will be an awful time for women who are expecting babies or nursing young children. 18Pray that it won't happen in winter.#13.18 in winter: In Palestine the winters are cold and rainy and make travel difficult. 19This will be the worst time of suffering since God created the world, and nothing this terrible will ever happen again.#Dn 12.1; Rev 7.14. 20If the Lord doesn't make the time shorter, no one will be left alive. But because of his chosen and special ones, he will make the time shorter.
21If someone should say, “Here is the Messiah!” or “There he is!” don't believe it. 22False messiahs and false prophets will come and perform miracles and signs. They will even try to fool God's chosen ones. 23But be on your guard! That's why I am telling you these things now.
When the Son of Man appears
(Matthew 24.29-31; Luke 21.25-28)
Jesus continued:
24In those days, straight after that time of suffering,#Is 13.10; Jl 2.10,31; 3.15; Rev 6.12; Is 13.10; Ez 32.7.
“The sun will become dark,
and the moon
will no longer shine.
25The stars will fall,#Is 34.4; Rev 6.13; Jl 2.10.
and the powers in the sky#13.25 the powers in the sky: In ancient times people thought that the stars were spiritual powers.
will be shaken.”
26Then the Son of Man will be seen coming in the clouds with great power and glory.#Dn 7.13; Rev 1.7. 27He will send his angels to gather his chosen ones from all over the earth.
A lesson from a fig tree
(Matthew 24.32-35; Luke 21.29-33)
Jesus continued:
28Learn a lesson from a fig tree. When its branches sprout and start putting out leaves, you know summer is near. 29So when you see all these things happening, you will know that the time has almost come.#13.29 the time has almost come: Or “he (that is, the Son of Man) will soon be here.” 30You can be sure that some of the people of this generation will still be alive when all this happens. 31The sky and the earth will not last for ever, but my words will.
No one knows the day or time
(Matthew 24.36-44)
Jesus continued:
32No one knows the day or the time. The angels in heaven don't know, and the Son himself doesn't know. Only the Father knows.#Mt 24.36. 33So watch out and be ready! You don't know when the time will come. 34It is like what happens when a man goes away for a while and places his servants in charge of everything. He tells each of them what to do, and he orders the guard to keep alert.#Lk 12.36-38. 35So be alert! You don't know when the master of the house will come back. It could be in the evening or at midnight or before dawn or in the morning. 36But if he comes suddenly, don't let him find you asleep. 37I tell everyone just what I have told you. Be alert!
