Sofonias 2:2

Begin your journey through Zephaniah with clarity. On the first day, you will read a guided introduction alongside the opening chapter of Zephaniah. It explains the prophet's warnings about the coming day of the Lord and God's promise to preserve a faithful remnant. You will encounter themes of judgment, repentance, humility and restoration. As you read, remember that Zephaniah is still being translated today so communities around the world can encounter God's Word in the language they understand best. This plan offers a clear starting point as you read Zephaniah.

Prophesying during the reign of King Josiah, Zephaniah’s ministry concerned the sinfulness of Judah and her neighbors. Zephaniah prophesied about a coming “day of the Lord,” when God will pour out His wrath on those who persist in their wickedness. Zephaniah reminds us that although the coming judgment of the Lord is severe, God stands ready to save those who trust in Him.

This 5-day plan will walk you through the book of Zephaniah. Each day is accompanied by a short video that explains what’s happening in the text. In this plan, you will learn how God's purifying fire is not for destruction but for creating a world where the humble are exalted and learning to embrace humility as the key to inheriting God's kingdom.

Idolatry is rife amongst God’s people and the surrounding nations, and it’s into this context that the prophet Zephaniah brings two clear messages: judgment and restoration. Dave Cornes explores what it looks like for us to repent and return to God, trusting Him to protect us through persecution and purify us through right judgment. This five-day reading plan will inspire you to rejoice as you look forward to ultimate restoration.
