If there’s one thing we have learned over years of dating, break-ups, prayers, waiting, and (for Kristen) marriage, it’s this: romantic relationships are complicated. Those charming princess movies we watched as kids didn’t do us any favors as we grew older. Can you relate? Whatever season of life you’re in, we pray this week-long devotional will help you discover God’s vision for lasting relationship. Because love was God’s idea in the first place!
It takes courage and strength to stay true and pure, in a world awash with degrading values. As disciples of Christ, we are expected to live with integrity and faithfulness in the area of relationships. We are to live committed to each other, bound by love and experiencing freedom in the covenant of marriage.
As a child, I loved tongue twisters. Bitter butter makes bitter batter, and no matter how many good ingredients you add afterward, the result is still bitter. Unforgiveness works much the same way. Over the next seven days, we'll intentionally invite Jesus into the places where we've been hurt. The groups of people we'll reflect on are simply a place to begin, not an exhaustive list. Commit to setting aside intentional, uninterrupted time each day to pray, reflect, and complete each exercise. What we surrender to Jesus, He is able to redeem.
