Números 25:4

The book of Ruth is one of Scripture’s most beautiful and moving stories, but it begins in darkness. Set during the turbulent days of the Judges, it opens with famine, displacement, grief, and death. These details help us understand the difficult choices, painful losses, and surprising faithfulness of God at work beneath the surface. Before Ruth becomes a story of loyalty, redemption, and new beginnings, it’s first a story of disappointment and survival. This six-part plan explores Ruth in its original context, revealing how God meets us in emptiness and uncertainty and keeps hardship from defining our lives.

The call to serve and work with God is for all Christians. When it comes to our work with the Master, it must be done as unto the Lord and not unto man, with integrity of heart and skillfulness of hands. In this devotional, you will learn the qualifications required to work with God effectively in a way that pleases Him.

This is the fourth part of a reading plan through the Bible following the lectionary pattern of reading in the Psalms, Old Testament, and New Testament each day. In addition, this part of the plan will also focus on our only comfort in life and death from questions 1 & 2 of the Heidelberg Catechism.
