Naum 1:2

In this 3-part devotional, Pastor Dylan Dodson teaches through the book of Nahum. This plan will encourage you to trust in God’s good judgment, even in the midst of challenging times.

A century following Jonah’s proclamation of judgment and Nineveh’s repentance, Nineveh once again fell into sin. Nahum consoles Israel by prophesying the destruction of Nineveh and all of Assyria for the devastation they brought to God’s people. The prophecies in Nahum remind us that God Himself is not aloof or disinterested; rather, He is the Lord of history. He builds and destroys empires according to His good purposes.

Begin your journey through Nahum with clarity. On the first day, you will read a guided introduction alongside the opening chapter of Nahum. It explains God's message against Nineveh and the Assyrian Empire, reminding readers that He is both patient and just. You will encounter themes of judgment, justice, and God's faithfulness to His people. As you read, remember that Nahum is still being translated today so communities around the world can encounter God's Word in the language they understand best. This plan offers a clear starting point as you read Nahum.

Life isn’t always fair — but God is. In the book of Nahum, God promises His people that He will deal with evil, bring justice, and restore hope. This 5-day plan will walk you through God’s justice, mercy, and holiness, and show how Jesus makes a way for us to live with peace instead of fear. If you’ve ever wondered whether God sees the wrongs in the world, Nahum is a powerful reminder that He does, and He makes all things right.
