Levítico 25:44

Philemon is a personal letter, written by Paul, humbly requesting freedom for a runaway slave. The letter is short, but its message is profound, and its impact reaches across history. So what does the Bible say about slavery? And what does it mean for us in a world where slavery remains real and present? Discipleship works against fear. As we obey God’s commands, we entrust ourselves to him. Like the students attending the schools founded by D. L. Moody in Northfield, MA, God’s people “are encouraged to test the meaning and value of the Bible’s teachings experimentally, by acting upon them, and living them out.” As we “test experimentally” the word of God, we will find that we will have fewer and fewer reasons to be afraid. Conclude your journey through the BEMA Liturgy with Part D: Children of the Resurrection Liturgy Reading Plan. BEMA Liturgy is here to help you slow down, form groups around Scripture, and live out the life Jesus has called us to. We encourage you to find a group to join this journey with you as you study, pray, and worship. See bemaliturgy.com for more information about the official start dates and timing of the liturgy.

As Christians, we have the opportunity to reconcile conviction with compassion and serve others with truth and love. As agents of redemption, we have to remember we have been redeemed to redeem the world. See redemption throughout the Bible and how it can remind us of the role each of us has to play in the daily work of redemption.
