Joel 2:2

Joel is all about Jesus! This 3-day plan will walk you through the book of Joel by reading just a chapter or two a day. Each day is accompanied by a short devotional and video that explains what’s happening and shows you how each part of the story points to Jesus and his Gospel.

Joel’s prophetic work aimed to bring warning of God’s coming judgment over Israel. The book points towards a coming “day of the Lord” when God will judge all the earth. God invites his people to repent and return to Him, reminding them He is “gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love” (Joel 2:13).

Begin your journey through Joel with clarity. On the first day, you will read a guided introduction alongside the opening chapter of Joel. It explains the prophet's call to repentance in the face of coming judgment and God's promise of restoration. You will encounter themes of humility, renewal, and the outpouring of God's Spirit. As you read, remember that Joel is still being translated today so communities around the world can encounter God's Word in the language they understand best. This plan offers a clear starting point as you read Joel.

Explore the prophetic meaning of Rosh Hashanah (the Feast of Trumpets) in 4 days of reflection and prayer. Discover how Jewish traditions, such as the blowing of the shofar, point to the second coming of Jesus, the Messiah. This plan invites you to a spiritual awakening and a call to intercede for the Jewish people, that they may recognize Jesus as the returning King.
