Oseias 12:5

Heaven had a plan from the very beginning. Heaven’s plan was to bring us a Savior; this Savior, though human, was God Himself. Hay held the Savior who would save our hearts. Heaven’s plan began to be unfolded in the Old Testament, centuries before the birth of Christ.

Many believers long for deeper intimacy with God, but their quiet times feel more dutiful than delightful. This 9-day devotional series explores the “one thing” Jesus said is truly necessary—being with him. Through stories of familiar biblical characters, you’ll learn about holy leisure, the unhurried, grace-filled rhythm of resting in God’s presence and savoring his Word. This is the one thing we need most, and it is the better portion.

Hosea speaks into a time of political unrest and misplaced worship. Israel enjoyed wealth and influence, yet turned from the Lord to Baal, a false god promising prosperity and fertility. God called Hosea to marry Gomer so His people could see His heart: a faithful God pursuing an unfaithful people. As you read through Hosea, this book study will help you see the depth of God’s love, the seriousness of sin, and the hope that comes through repentance and restoration.

God used Hosea to powerfully communicate His anguish towards the nation of Israel due to their continued idol worship. Hosea’s life and ministry show both the heart-breaking cost of idolatry as well as the lengths to which God will go to redeem His sinful people back to Him. This book reminds us that despite our sinful idolatry, God is always faithful.
