For millennia, God’s people have been carrying out a weekly Bible study plan. Every year, they read through the Torah from Genesis to Deuteronomy. In synagogue each week, they read and study a Bible passage—the weekly parshah. This week’s parshah is a double reading, called “Vayakhel-Pekudei” which is Hebrew for “And He Assembled” and Accountings of” and covers Exodus 35-40.

Only one Jewish ritual is mentioned in the Ten Commandments: keeping the Sabbath. This attests to the importance of the Sabbath, and to the centrality the Sabbath holds in Jewish tradition. The Sabbath is the focal point of the Jew's week. Every Sunday is a countdown to Friday when the Sabbath begins at sundown. Candles are lit, families join around the table for a ritual meal, and communities come together in Bible study and prayer. It is the highlight of each week, and the cornerstone of our faith.

Do you struggle to enjoy the weekly rest day the Lord wants for you? Do your rest days sometimes end up being more exhausting than work days? In this plan, we will look into ways to rest intentionally as per God’s desire for us.
