Êxodo 12:48

How is your family preparing for Easter? Through this short and sweet devotional (especially helpful if you’re teaching little ones with short attention spans), Scott James brings to light the many things that Christ’s life and resurrection means for us not only through the season of Lent, but all year long.

In this 8-day study, we will walk through the passion narratives and unpack how Jesus and his disciples understood them as fulfillments of Old Testament prefigurations of Jesus. Our starting point is that Jesus himself was the first to point out these scriptural connections to the disciples (Luke 24:44-46). And, just as the Holy Spirit opened their minds to understand the things Jesus taught them, we will ask the Spirit to similarly illumine us (John 14:26; 16:12-15).

Exodus begins with God hearing the cries of His people and rescuing them from slavery in Egypt. Through Moses, God shows His power in signs and wonders, delivers His people at Passover, and parts the Red Sea. This plan will help you see God as the One who rescues—not just long ago, but today. His promises are stronger than your doubts, and His rescue leads to freedom.

Exodus is one of history's greatest epics, and Moses one of its greatest heroes. Movies have been made, books written, and the entire Bible refers back to the events in this book. Join Through the Word as we guide you chapter by chapter through the unfolding drama of God's great rescue mission, with clear explanation and compelling audio in just minutes each day. Part 1 covers chapters 1-13.
