Amós 7:12

Do you have ideas for change but feel powerless to implement them? Do you respect your leaders’ authority but yearn for them to see your vision? Leadership is not position. It’s influence. Learn from Jonathan, Amos, Joseph, David, and Jesus how to spark transformation. Regardless of your title, age, or qualifications, God has positioned you to make a difference. This devotional is by Influence coauthors Philip Morrison and Hankuri Gaya.

Written by the shepherd-prophet Amos, this book exposes Israel's sinful religious hypocrisy and corrupt leadership. Amos prophesies against their rejection of God's law and the terrible social injustice perpetrated against the poor and vulnerable. As Amos foretells judgment on many nations, including Israel, we are reminded of the ultimate need for restoration and the promise of greater redemption.

We often associate the word stewardship with money. While it’s true that we’re called to be good stewards of our finances, stewardship certainly doesn’t end with our bank accounts. In this plan, you’ll be challenged to consider the connection between stewardship and commitment, and you’ll be inspired to elevate your relationship with God to the top of your priority list. Each day’s reading includes a brief Scripture passage and relevant devotional.

This Advent Guide comes from students, faculty and staff at Belmont University. Advent is that season of waiting that carefully and purposefully helps us to realign our priorities and to glimpse, anew, our place before God. Our humble hope is this guide helps people focus more fully on Jesus Christ through the Advent season.
