2Samuel 13:38

How do you deal with hurt in your life? In this Plan, we will explore how hurt affected the relationship between King David and his son Absalom. Let us journey together towards healing and restoration from hurt over the next seven days.

Sexual sin rarely remains private or harmless. This eight-day plan examines the biblical connection between sexual perversion, abuse of power, violence, family destruction, corrupted worship and divine judgement. Through accounts involving fallen angels, Sodom, Tamar, Dinah, Bathsheba, Absalom and the church in Thyatira, readers will see how rejecting God’s boundaries can produce exploitation and wider social harm. The plan calls believers and churches to uphold biblical holiness, protect the vulnerable, confront abuse, pursue justice, practise repentance and honour God’s design for sexuality, authority and covenant faithfulness.

2 Samuel depicts the ascension and reign of King David following the death of Saul and Jonathan. David united the kingdom, established Jerusalem as the capital city, and extended the territory of Israel. At the crescendo of the book, God promises David that "your throne shall be established forever" (2 Samuel 7:16). Despite David's wickedness, God ultimately fulfills his promises to David through the person and work of Jesus Christ.

These flawed rulers point us towards the one true faithful king. Part I covers Saul, David, and Solomon, the three kings of the United Kingdom.
