Tehillim (Psa) 9
9
1For the leader. On the death of Labben. A psalm of David:
2I give thanks to Adonai with all my heart.
I will tell about all your wonderful deeds.
3I will be glad and exult in you.
I will sing praise to your name, ‘Elyon.
4When my enemies turn back,
they stumble and perish before you.
5For you upheld my cause as just,
sitting on the throne as the righteous judge.
6You rebuked the nations, destroyed the wicked,
blotted out their name forever and ever.
7The enemy is finished, in ruins forever;
you destroyed their cities; all memory of them is lost.
8But Adonai is enthroned forever;
he has set up his throne for judgment.
9He will judge the world in righteousness;
he will judge the peoples fairly.
10Adonai is a stronghold for the oppressed,
a tower of strength in times of trouble.
11Those who know your name put their trust in you,
for you have not abandoned those who seek you, Adonai.
12Sing praises to Adonai, who lives in Tziyon;
proclaim his deeds among the peoples.
13For the avenger of blood remembers them,
he does not ignore the cry of the afflicted:
14“Have mercy on me, Adonai!
See how I suffer from those who hate me;
you raise me from the gates of death,
15so that I can proclaim all your praises
at the gates of the daughter of Tziyon
and rejoice in this deliverance of yours.”
16The nations have drowned in the pit they dug,
caught their own feet in the net they hid.
17Adonai made himself known and executed judgment;
the wicked are ensnared in the work of their own hands. (Higgayon; Selah)
18The wicked will return to Sh’ol,
all the nations that forget God.
19For the poor will not always be forgotten
or the hope of the needy perish forever.
20Arise, Adonai! Don’t let mortals prevail!
Let the nations be judged in your presence.
21Strike them with terror, Adonai!
Let the nations know they are only human. (Selah)

Psalm 9
For the choir director; according to muth labben; #9:0 Or “almuth labben”; unknown musical term. a psalm by David.#9:0 Some Hebrew manuscripts, Greek, and Latin treat Psalms 9 and 10 as one psalm.
1I will give ⌞you⌟ thanks, O Lord, with all my heart.
I will tell about all the miracles you have done.
2I will find joy and be glad about you.
I will make music to praise your name, O Most High.
3When my enemies retreat, they will stumble and die in your presence.
4You have defended my just cause:
You sat down on your throne as a fair judge.
5You condemned nations.
You destroyed wicked people.
You wiped out their names forever and ever.
6The enemy is finished—in ruins forever.
You have uprooted their cities.
Even the memory of them has faded.
7Yet, the Lord is enthroned forever.
He has set up his throne for judgment.
8He alone judges the world with righteousness.
He judges ⌞its⌟ people fairly.
9The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble.
10Those who know your name trust you, O Lord,
because you have never deserted those who seek your help.
11Make music to praise the Lord, who is enthroned in Zion.
Announce to the nations what he has done.
12The one who avenges murder has remembered oppressed people.
He has never forgotten their cries.
13Have pity on me, O Lord.
Look at what I suffer because of those who hate me.
You take me away from the gates of death
14so that I may recite your praises one by one
in the gates of Zion
and find joy in your salvation.
15The nations have sunk into the pit they have made.
Their feet are caught in the net they have hidden ⌞to trap others⌟.
16The Lord is known by the judgment he has carried out.
The wicked person is trapped
by the work of his own hands. Higgaion Selah
17Wicked people, all the nations who forget God,
will return to the grave.
18Needy people will not always be forgotten.
Nor will the hope of oppressed people be lost forever.
19Arise, O Lord.
Do not let mortals gain any power.
Let the nations be judged in your presence.
20Strike them with terror, O Lord.
Let the nations know that they are ⌞only⌟ mortal. Selah
