Tehillim (Psa) 60
60
1For the leader. Set to “Lily of Testimony.” A mikhtam of David for teaching about 2when he fought with Aram-Naharayim and with Aram-Tzovah, and Yo’av returned and killed 12,000 from Edom in the Salt Valley:
3God, you rejected us; you crushed us;
you were angry; but now revive us.
4You made the land shake, split it apart;
now repair the rifts, for it is collapsing.
5You made your people suffer hard times,
had us drink a wine that made us stagger.
6To those who fear you because of the truth
you gave a banner to rally around, (Selah)
7so that those you love could be rescued;
so save with your right hand, and answer us!
8God in his holiness spoke,
and I took joy [in his promise]:
“I will divide Sh’khem
and determine the shares in the Sukkot Valley.
9Gil‘ad is mine and M’nasheh mine,
Efrayim my helmet, Y’hudah my scepter.
10Mo’av is my washpot; on Edom I throw my shoe;
P’leshet, be crushed because of me!”
11Who will bring me into the fortified city?
Who will lead me to Edom?
12God, have you rejected us?
You don’t go out with our armies, God.
13Help us against our enemy,
for human help is worthless.
14With God’s help we will fight valiantly,
for he will trample our enemies.

Psalm 60
For the choir director; according to shushan eduth; #60:0 Unknown musical term. a miktam by David; for teaching. When David fought Aram Naharaim and Aram Zobah, and ⌞when⌟ Joab came back and killed 12,000 men from Edom in the Dead Sea region.
1O God, you have rejected us.
You have broken down our defenses.
You have been angry.
Restore us!
2You made the land quake.
You split it wide open.
Heal the cracks in it
because it is falling apart.
3You have made your people experience hardships.
You have given us wine that makes us stagger.
4Yet, you have raised a flag for those who fear you
so that they can rally to it
when attacked by bows ⌞and arrows⌟. Selah
5Save ⌞us⌟ with your powerful hand, and answer us
so that those who are dear to you may be rescued.#60:5 Verses 5–12 are virtually identical in wording to Psalm 108:6–13.
6God has promised the following through his holiness:
“I will triumph!
I will divide Shechem.
I will measure the valley of Succoth.
7Gilead is mine.
Manasseh is mine.
Ephraim is the helmet on my head.
Judah is my scepter.
8Moab is my washtub.
I will throw my shoe over Edom.
I will shout in triumph over Philistia.”
9Who will bring me into the fortified city?
Who will lead me to Edom?
10Isn’t it you, O God, who rejected us?
Isn’t it you, O God, who refused to accompany our armies?
11Give us help against the enemy
because human assistance is worthless.
12With God we will display great strength.
He will trample our enemies.
