Divrei-HamYamim Alef (1 Ch) 13
13
1David consulted with the commanders of thousands and of hundreds — with every leader. 2Then David said to the entire assembly of Isra’el, “If it seems good to you, and if it is the will of Adonai our God, let’s send messengers to the rest of our kinsmen in the land of Isra’el, and also to the cohanim and L’vi’im in their cities with surrounding open land, asking them to join us; 3and let’s bring back the ark of our God to ourselves, since we didn’t go after it when Sha’ul was king.” 4The whole assembly said they would do this, for in the view of all the people it seemed right.
5So David summoned all Isra’el to come together, from Shichor in Egypt all the way to the entrance of Hamat, to bring the ark of God from Kiryat-Ye‘arim. 6David went up with all Isra’el to Ba‘alah, that is, Kiryat-Ye‘arim, which belonged to Y’hudah, to bring up from there the ark of God, Adonai, who is enthroned above the k’ruvim, bearing the Name. 7They set the ark of God on a new cart from the house of Avinadav, with ‘Uza and Achyo, the sons of Avinadav, driving the cart. 8David and all Isra’el celebrated in the presence of God with all their strength, with songs, lyres, lutes, tambourines, cymbals and trumpets.
9When they arrived at Kidon’s threshing-floor, the oxen stumbled; and ‘Uza put out his hand to steady the ark. 10But Adonai’s anger blazed up against ‘Uza, and he struck him down, because he had put out his hand and touched the ark, so that he died there before God. 11It upset David that Adonai had broken out against ‘Uza; that place has been called Peretz-‘Uza [breaking-out of ‘Uza] ever since. 12That day, God frightened David; he asked, “How can I bring the ark of God to me?” 13So David didn’t bring the ark into the City of David; rather, David carried it aside into the house of ‘Oved-’Edom the Gitti. 14The ark of God stayed with the family of ‘Oved-’Edom the Gitti in his house for three months; and Adonai blessed the household of ‘Oved-’Edom and all he had.

David Moves the Sacred Chest to Jerusalem
(2 Samuel 6.1-12a)
1Some time later, David talked with his army commanders, 2-3and then announced to the people of Israel:
While Saul was king, the sacred chest was ignored. But now it's time to bring the chest to Jerusalem. We will invite everyone in Israel to come here, including the priests and the Levites in the towns surrounded by pastureland. But we will do these things only if you agree, and if the Lord our God wants us to.
4The people agreed this was the right thing to do.
5David gathered everyone from the Shihor River in Egypt to Lebo-Hamath in the north. 6#1 S 7.1,2; Ex 25.22. Then he led them to Baalah in Judah, which was also called Kiriath-Jearim. They went there to get the sacred chest and bring it to Jerusalem, because it belonged to the Lord God, whose throne is above the winged creatures#13.6 winged creatures: Two golden statues of winged creatures were on top of the sacred chest and were symbols of the Lord's throne on earth (see Exodus 25.18). on the lid of the chest.
7The sacred chest was still at Abinadab's house,#13.7 The sacred chest … Abinadab's house: See 1 Samuel 6.19—7.2. and when David and the crowd arrived there, they brought the chest outside and placed it on a new ox cart. Abinadab's sons#13.7 Abinadab's sons: These words are not in the Hebrew text, but see 2 Samuel 6.3. Uzzah and Ahio guided the cart, 8while David and the crowd danced and sang praises to the Lord with all their might. They played music on small harps and other stringed instruments, and on tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets.
9But when they came to Chidon's threshing place, the oxen stumbled, and Uzzah reached out and took hold of the chest to stop it from falling. 10The Lord God was very angry with Uzzah for doing this, and he killed Uzzah right there beside the chest.
11David then got angry with God for killing Uzzah. So he named that place “Attack on Uzzah,”#13.11 Attack on Uzzah: Or “Perez-Uzzah.” and it's been called that ever since.
12David was afraid what the Lord might do to him, and he asked himself, “Should I really be the one to take care of the sacred chest?” 13So instead of taking it to Jerusalem, David decided to take it to the home of Obed-Edom, who lived in the town of Gath.

1 Ch 26.4,5. The chest stayed there for three months, and the Lord blessed Obed-Edom, his family, and everything he owned.
