Ezekiel 46
46
1“‘The Lord GOD says: “The gate of the inner court that looks towards the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the Sabbath day it shall be opened, and on the day of the new moon it shall be opened. 2The prince shall enter by the way of the porch of the gate outside, and shall stand by the post of the gate; and the priests shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, and he shall worship at the threshold of the gate. Then he shall go out, but the gate shall not be shut until the evening. 3The people of the land shall worship at the door of that gate before the LORD on the Sabbaths and on the new moons. 4The burnt offering that the prince shall offer to the LORD shall be on the Sabbath day, six lambs without defect and a ram without defect; 5and the meal offering shall be an efah for the ram, and the meal offering for the lambs as he is able to give, and a hin#46:5 A hin is about 6.5 litres or 1.7 gallons. of oil to an efah.#46:5 1 efah is about 22 litres or about 2/3 of a bushel 6On the day of the new moon it shall be a young bull without defect, six lambs, and a ram. They shall be without defect. 7He shall prepare a meal offering: an efah for the bull, and an efah for the ram, and for the lambs according as he is able, and a hin of oil to an efah. 8When the prince enters, he shall go in by the way of the porch of the gate, and he shall go out by its way.
9“‘“But when the people of the land come before the LORD in the appointed feasts, he who enters by the way of the north gate to worship shall go out by the way of the south gate; and he who enters by the way of the south gate shall go out by the way of the north gate. He shall not return by the way of the gate by which he came in, but shall go out straight before him. 10The prince shall go in with them when they go in. When they go out, he shall go out.
11“‘“In the feasts and in the appointed holidays, the meal offering shall be an efah#46:11 1 efah is about 22 litres or about 2/3 of a bushel for a bull, and an efah for a ram, and for the lambs as he is able to give, and a hin of oil to an efah. 12When the prince prepares a free will offering, a burnt offering or peace offerings as a free will offering to the LORD, one shall open for him the gate that looks towards the east; and he shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, as he does on the Sabbath day. Then he shall go out; and after his going out one shall shut the gate.
13“‘“You shall prepare a lamb a year old without defect for a burnt offering to the LORD daily. Morning by morning you shall prepare it. 14You shall prepare a meal offering with it morning by morning, the sixth part of an efah,#46:14 1 efah is about 22 litres or about 2/3 of a bushel and the third part of a hin of oil to moisten the fine flour; a meal offering to the LORD continually by a perpetual ordinance. 15Thus they shall prepare the lamb, the meal offering, and the oil, morning by morning, for a continual burnt offering.”
16“‘The Lord GOD says: “If the prince gives a gift to any of his sons, it is his inheritance. It shall belong to his sons. It is their possession by inheritance. 17But if he gives of his inheritance a gift to one of his servants, it shall be his to the year of liberty; then it shall return to the prince; but as for his inheritance, it shall be for his sons. 18Moreover the prince shall not take of the people’s inheritance, to thrust them out of their possession. He shall give inheritance to his sons out of his own possession, that my people not each be scattered from his possession.”’”
19 Then he brought me through the entry, which was at the side of the gate, into the holy rooms for the priests, which looked towards the north. Behold, there was a place on the back part westward. 20He said to me, “This is the place where the priests shall boil the trespass offering and the sin offering, and where they shall bake the meal offering, that they not bring them out into the outer court, to sanctify the people.”
21 Then he brought me out into the outer court and caused me to pass by the four corners of the court; and behold, in every corner of the court there was a court. 22In the four corners of the court there were courts enclosed, forty cubits#46:22 A cubit is the length from the tip of the middle finger to the elbow on a man’s arm, or about 18 inches or 46 centimetres. long and thirty wide. These four in the corners were the same size. 23There was a wall around in them, around the four, and boiling places were made under the walls all around. 24Then he said to me, “These are the boiling houses, where the ministers of the house shall boil the sacrifice of the people.”

Sacrifices at Appointed Times
1“This is what the Lord God says: The gate of the inner court that faces east must be closed during the six days of work, but it will be opened on the Sabbath day # Ex 20:9-10 and opened on the day of the New Moon. 2The prince should enter from the outside by way of the gate’s portico and stand at the doorpost of the gate while the priests sacrifice his burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. He will bow in worship at the threshold of the gate and then depart, but the gate must not be closed until evening. 3The people of the land will also bow in worship before the Lord at the entrance of that gate on the Sabbaths and New Moons.
4“The burnt offering that the prince presents to the Lord # Ezk 45:17 on the Sabbath day is to be six unblemished lambs # Nm 28:9 and an unblemished ram. 5The grain offering will be half a bushel # Lit an ephah with the ram, # Nm 28:12; Ezk 45:24 and the grain offering with the lambs will be whatever he wants to give, as well as a gallon # Lit a hin of oil for every half bushel. 6On the day of the New Moon, the burnt offering is to be a young, unblemished bull, as well as six lambs and a ram without blemish. 7He will provide a grain offering of half a bushel # Lit an ephah with the bull, half a bushel with the ram, and whatever he can afford with the lambs, together with a gallon # Lit a hin of oil for every half bushel. 8When the prince enters, # Ezk 44:3 he must go in by way of the gate’s portico and go out the same way.
9“When the people of the land come before the Lord at the appointed times, # Or the festivals # Ex 23:14-17 whoever enters by way of the north gate to worship must go out by way of the south gate, and whoever enters by way of the south gate must go out by way of the north gate. No one must return through the gate by which he entered, but must go out by the opposite gate. 10When the people enter, the prince will enter with them, and when they leave, he will leave. 11At the festivals and appointed times, the grain offering will be half a bushel # Lit an ephah with the bull, half a bushel with the ram, and whatever he wants to give with the lambs, along with a gallon # Lit a hin of oil for every half bushel.
12“When the prince makes a freewill offering, whether a burnt offering or a fellowship offering as a freewill offering to the Lord, # Lv 23:38 the gate that faces east must be opened for him. He is to offer his burnt offering or fellowship offering just as he does on the Sabbath day. Then he will go out, and the gate must be closed after he leaves.
13“You must offer an unblemished year-old male lamb as a daily burnt offering to the Lord; you will offer it every morning. # Ex 29:38 14You must also prepare a grain offering every morning along with it: three quarts, # Lit one-sixth of an ephah with one-third of a gallon # Lit one-third of a hin of oil to moisten the fine flour — a grain offering to the Lord. This is a permanent statute to be observed regularly. 15They will offer the lamb, the grain offering, and the oil every morning as a regular burnt offering.
Transfer of Royal Lands
16“This is what the Lord God says: If the prince gives a gift to each of his sons as their inheritance, it will belong to his sons. It will become their property by inheritance. 17But if he gives a gift from his inheritance to one of his servants, it will belong to that servant until the year of freedom, # Lv 25:10 when it will revert to the prince. His inheritance belongs only to his sons; it is theirs. 18The prince must not take any of the people’s inheritance, evicting them from their property. # Ezk 45:8-9 He is to provide an inheritance for his sons from his own property, so that none of My people will be displaced from his own property.”
The Temple Kitchens
19Then he brought me through the entrance # Ezk 42:9 that was at the side of the gate, into the priests’ holy chambers, which faced north. I saw a place there at the far western end. 20He said to me, “This is the place where the priests will boil the restitution offering and the sin offering, # 2Ch 35:13; Ezk 44:29 and where they will bake the grain offering, # Lv 2:4-7 so that they do not bring them into the outer court and transmit holiness to the people.” 21Next he brought me into the outer court and led me past its four corners. There was a separate court in each of its corners. 22In the four corners of the outer court there were enclosed # Hb obscure courts, 70 feet # Lit 40 cubits long by 52 1/2 feet # Lit 30 cubits wide. All four corner areas had the same dimensions. 23There was a stone wall # Or a row around the inside of them, around the four of them, with ovens built at the base of the walls on all sides. 24He said to me: “These are the kitchens where those who minister at the temple will cook the people’s sacrifices.”
