1 Corinthians 12
12
1 Now concerning spiritual things, brothers, I don’t want you to be ignorant. 2You know that when you were heathen,#12:2 or Gentiles you were led away to those mute idols, however you might be led. 3Therefore I make known to you that no man speaking by God’s Spirit says, “Yeshua is accursed.” No one can say, “Yeshua is Lord,” but by the Holy Spirit.
4 Now there are various kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5There are various kinds of service, and the same Lord. 6There are various kinds of workings, but the same God who works all things in all. 7But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the profit of all. 8For to one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10and to another workings of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of languages, and to another the interpretation of languages. 11But the one and the same Spirit produces all of these, distributing to each one separately as he desires.
12 For as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body; so also is Messiah. 13For in one Spirit we were all immersed into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all given to drink into one Spirit.
14 For the body is not one member, but many. 15If the foot would say, “Because I’m not the hand, I’m not part of the body,” it is not therefore not part of the body. 16If the ear would say, “Because I’m not the eye, I’m not part of the body,” it’s not therefore not part of the body. 17If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the smelling be? 18But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body, just as he desired. 19If they were all one member, where would the body be? 20But now they are many members, but one body. 21The eye can’t tell the hand, “I have no need for you,” or again the head to the feet, “I have no need for you.” 22No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. 23Those parts of the body which we think to be less honourable, on those we bestow more abundant honour; and our unpresentable parts have more abundant modesty, 24while our presentable parts have no such need. But God composed the body together, giving more abundant honour to the inferior part, 25that there should be no division in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. 26When one member suffers, all the members suffer with it. When one member is honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
27 Now you are the body of Messiah, and members individually. 28God has set some in the assembly: first emissaries, second prophets, third teachers, then miracle workers, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, and various kinds of languages. 29Are all emissaries? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all miracle workers? 30Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with various languages? Do all interpret? 31But earnestly desire the best gifts. Moreover, I show a most excellent way to you.

Spiritual Gifts
1#1Co 14:37Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant. 2#Ps 115:5; 1Th 1:9You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. 3#Jn 13:13; 1Jn 4:2–3Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed!” And no one can say, “Jesus is the Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.
4#Heb 2:4; Ro 12:4–6There are various gifts, but the same Spirit. 5There are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6#1Co 15:28There are various operations, but it is the same God who operates all of them in all people.
7But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to everyone for the common good. 8#2Co 8:7; 1Co 1:5To one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom, to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit, 9#2Co 4:13; 1Co 13:2to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10#Mk 16:17; 1Jn 4:1; 1Co 12:28–30to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. 11#1Co 12:4; 2Co 10:13But that one and very same Spirit works all these, dividing to each one individually as He will.
One Body With Many Members
12#1Co 12:27; 10:17For as the body is one and has many parts, and all the many parts of that one body are one body, so also is Christ. 13#Jn 7:37–39; Gal 3:28For by one Spirit we are all baptized into one body, whether we are Jews or Gentiles, whether we are slaves or free, and we have all been made to drink of one Spirit. 14The body is not one part, but many.
15If the foot says, “Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? 16And if the ear says, “Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? 17If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? 18#1Co 12:11; 12:28But now God has established the parts, every one of them, in the body as it has pleased Him. 19If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20So there are many parts, yet one body.
21The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22No, those parts of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. 23And those parts of the body which we think are less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor. And our less respectable parts are treated with much more respect, 24whereas our more respectable parts have no need of this. But God has composed the body, having given more abundant honor to that part which lacks it, 25so that there should be no division in the body, but that the parts should have the same care for one another. 26#Ro 12:15If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts rejoice with it.
27#Ro 12:5; Eph 1:23Now you are the body of Christ and members individually. 28#Heb 13:17; 13:24God has put these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, and various tongues. 29Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? 30Do all have the gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? 31#1Co 14:39But earnestly covet the greater gifts.
Love
Yet I show you a more excellent way.
