1 Chronicles 14
14
1 Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David with cedar trees, masons, and carpenters, to build him a house. 2David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, for his kingdom was highly exalted, for his people Israel’s sake.
3 David took more wives in Jerusalem, and David became the father of more sons and daughters. 4These are the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, 5Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, 6Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, 7Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
8 When the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went out against them. 9Now the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim. 10David enquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?”
The LORD said to him, “Go up; for I will deliver them into your hand.”
11 So they came up to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there. David said, God has broken my enemies by my hand, like waters breaking out. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim.#14:11 “Baal Perazim” means “The Lord who breaks out”. 12They left their gods there; and David gave a command, and they were burnt with fire.
13 The Philistines made another raid in the valley. 14David enquired again of God; and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them. Turn away from them, and come on them opposite the mulberry trees. 15When you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then go out to battle; for God has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.”
16 David did as God commanded him; and they attacked the army of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gezer. 17The fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORD brought the fear of him on all nations.

God’s Blessing on David
1King Hiram of Tyre sent envoys to David, # 2Sm 5:11-25 along with cedar logs, stonemasons, and carpenters to build a palace for him. 2Then David knew that the Lord had established him as king over Israel and that his kingdom had been exalted for the sake of His people Israel.
3David took more wives in Jerusalem, and he became the father of more sons and daughters. 4These # 1Ch 3:5-8 are the names of the children born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, 5Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, 6Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, 7Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
8When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, they all went in search of David; when David heard of this, he went out to face them. 9Now the Philistines had come and raided in the Valley of Rephaim, # 1Ch 11:15; 14:13 10so David inquired of God, “Should I go to war against the Philistines? Will You hand them over to me? ”
The Lord replied, “Go, and I will hand them over to you.”
11So the Israelites went up to Baal-perazim, and David defeated the Philistines there. Then David said, “Like a bursting flood, God has used me to burst out against my enemies.” Therefore, they named that place the Lord Bursts Out. # Or Baal-perazim 12The Philistines abandoned their idols there, and David ordered that they be burned in the fire.
13Once again the Philistines raided in the valley. 14So David again inquired of God, and God answered him, “Do not pursue them directly. Circle around them and attack them opposite the balsam trees. 15When you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then march out to battle, for God will have marched out ahead of you to attack the camp of the Philistines.” 16So David did exactly as God commanded him, and they struck down the Philistine army from Gibeon to Gezer. 17Then David’s fame spread throughout the lands, and the Lord caused all the nations to be terrified of him. # Ex 15:14-16; Dt 2:25
