Leviticus 9
9
1And it came to pass on the eighth day, that Moses called Aaron and his sons, and the elders of Israel; 2and he said unto Aaron, Take thee a calf of the herd for a sin-offering, and a ram for a burnt-offering, without blemish, and offer them before Jehovah. 3And unto the children of Israel thou shalt speak, saying, Take ye a he-goat for a sin-offering; and a calf and a lamb, both a year old, without blemish, for a burnt-offering; 4and an ox and a ram for peace-offerings, to sacrifice before Jehovah; and a meal-offering mingled with oil: for to-day Jehovah appeareth unto you. 5And they brought that which Moses commanded before the tent of meeting: and all the congregation drew near and stood before Jehovah. 6And Moses said, This is the thing which Jehovah commanded that ye should do: and the glory of Jehovah shall appear unto you. 7And Moses said unto Aaron, Draw near unto the altar, and offer thy sin-offering, and thy burnt-offering, and make atonement for thyself, and for the people; and offer the oblation of the people, and make atonement for them; as Jehovah commanded.
8So Aaron drew near unto the altar, and slew the calf of the sin-offering, which was for himself. 9And the sons of Aaron presented the blood unto him; and he dipped his finger in the blood, and put it upon the horns of the altar, and poured out the blood at the base of the altar: 10but the fat, and the kidneys, and the caul from the liver of the sin-offering, he burnt upon the altar; as Jehovah commanded Moses. 11And the flesh and the skin he burnt with fire without the camp.
12And he slew the burnt-offering; and Aaron’s sons delivered unto him the blood, and he sprinkled it upon the altar round about. 13And they delivered the burnt-offering unto him, piece by piece, and the head: and he burnt them upon the altar. 14And he washed the inwards and the legs, and burnt them upon the burnt-offering on the altar.
15And he presented the people’s oblation, and took the goat of the sin-offering which was for the people, and slew it, and offered it for sin, as the first. 16And he presented the burnt-offering, and offered it according to the ordinance. 17And he presented the meal-offering, and filled his hand therefrom, and burnt it upon the altar, besides the burnt-offering of the morning.
18He slew also the ox and the ram, the sacrifice of peace-offerings, which was for the people: and Aaron’s sons delivered unto him the blood, which he sprinkled upon the altar round about, 19and the fat of the ox and of the ram, the fat tail, and that which covereth the inwards, and the kidneys, and the caul of the liver: 20and they put the fat upon the breasts, and he burnt the fat upon the altar: 21and the breasts and the right thigh Aaron waved for a wave-offering before Jehovah; as Moses commanded.
22And Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people, and blessed them; and he came down from offering the sin-offering, and the burnt-offering, and the peace-offerings. 23And Moses and Aaron went into the tent of meeting, and came out, and blessed the people: and the glory of Jehovah appeared unto all the people. 24And there came forth fire from before Jehovah, and consumed upon the altar the burnt-offering and the fat: and when all the people saw it, they shouted, and fell on their faces.

1On the eighth day Moses summoned Aaron, his sons, and the elders of Israel.#Ex 18:12 2He said to Aaron, “Take a young bull for a sin#9:2 Or purification offering and a ram for a burnt offering, both without blemish,#Ex 29:1 and present them before the Lord. 3And tell the Israelites:#9:3 Sam, LXX read elders of Israel Take a male goat for a sin offering; a calf and a lamb, male yearlings without blemish, for a burnt offering; 4an ox and a ram for a fellowship offering to sacrifice before the Lord; and a grain offering mixed with oil. For today the Lord is going to appear#Gn 35:9 to you.”
5They brought what Moses had commanded to the front of the tent of meeting, and the whole community came forward and stood before the Lord. 6Moses said, “This is what the Lord commanded you to do, that the glory of the Lord#Ex 40:34; Lk 9:32 may appear to you.” 7Then Moses said to Aaron, “Approach the altar and sacrifice your sin offering and your burnt offering; make atonement for yourself and the people.#9:7 LXX reads and your household#Heb 5:1–3; 7:26–27 Sacrifice the people’s offering and make atonement for them, as the Lord commanded.”
8So Aaron approached the altar and slaughtered the calf as a sin offering for himself. 9Aaron’s sons brought the blood to him, and he dipped his finger in the blood and applied it to the horns of the altar. He poured out the blood at the base of the altar. 10He burned the fat, the kidneys, and the fatty lobe of the liver from the sin offering on the altar, as the Lord had commanded Moses. 11He burned the flesh and the hide#Lv 7:8 outside the camp.#Ex 29:14; Lv 4:8–10,12,21; 8:17; 16:27
12Then he slaughtered the burnt offering. Aaron’s sons brought him the blood, and he splattered it on all sides of the altar. 13They brought him the burnt offering piece by piece, along with the head, and he burned them on the altar. 14He washed the entrails and the legs and burned them with the burnt offering on the altar.
15Aaron presented the people’s offering. He took the male goat for the people’s sin offering, slaughtered it, and made a sin offering with it as he did before. 16He presented the burnt offering and sacrificed it according to the regulation.#Lv 18:26 17Next he presented the grain offering, took a handful of it, and burned it on the altar in addition to the morning burnt offering.#Ex 29:38–42; Lv 2:2
18Finally, he slaughtered the ox and the ram as the people’s fellowship sacrifice. Aaron’s sons brought him the blood, and he splattered it on all sides of the altar. 19They also brought the fat portions from the ox and the ram — the fat tail, the fat surrounding the entrails, the kidneys, and the fatty lobe of the liver — 20and placed these on the breasts. Aaron burned the fat portions on the altar, 21but he presented the breasts#Ex 29:26–27; Lv 7:30–34; 8:26; 10:14–15; Nm 6:20; 18:18 and the right thigh as a presentation offering#Ex 29:24 before the Lord, as Moses had commanded.#9:21 Some Hb mss, LXX, Sam read as the Lord commanded Moses
22Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people and blessed#Gn 14:19; Nm 6:24–26 them. He came down after sacrificing the sin offering, the burnt offering, and the fellowship offering. 23Moses and Aaron then entered the tent of meeting. When they came out, they blessed the people, and the glory of the Lord appeared to all the people. 24Fire came from the Lord and consumed#1Kg 18:38–39; 2Ch 7:1 the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted#Ps 35:27; Is 12:6; 24:14 and fell facedown.#Nm 16:4
