Jeremiah 23:21-23

In a world that’s constantly shouting at us, sometimes it’s easy to forget to make space to listen, to listen to what is happening around you, to listen to what others are saying, to listen to the wind and the silence, or to listen to what God is saying. As you go through this week’s readings, our prayer is that you’ll start to explore what it means to listen well.

There are many aspects of God’s character, and what we need from Him can vary in different situations. He not only has all these different qualities, but He has different names to go with them! Follow along with this plan and learn about some different names of God that we first read about in the Old Testament! Which one impacts you the most?

Hebrews 4:12 says that “the word of God is alive and active”. To emphasise this truth, the Bible itself describes God’s word in various ways. This devotional will take a survey of these various “symbols” and hopefully ignite your passion afresh for the God-breathed scriptures.

The Bible has more than a thousand names or metaphors for God. Why does He have so many names? Each name describes a different function or characteristic of His being. Through this devotional, you will learn more about Father God and His relationship to you, through His names, and so learn more about yourself. Be prepared to live closer to Him than ever before.
