Psalms 66
66
For the Music Director. A Song. A Psalm.
1Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth! # Ps 81:1; 100:1
2Sing the glory of His name;
make His praise glorious.
3Say to God, “How awesome are Your works! # Ps 65:5
Through the greatness of Your power
Your enemies will cringe before You. # Ps 18:44
4All the earth will worship You # Ps 22:27; 117:1
and sing praises to You;
they will sing praises to Your name.” Selah
5Come and see the works of God; # Ps 46:8
He is awesome in His deeds toward the sons of men.
6He turned the sea into dry land;
they passed through the river on foot. # Ex 14:21–22; Jos 3:16
There we will rejoice in Him.
7He rules by His power forever;
His eyes keep watch on the nations; # Ps 11:4
do not let the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah
8Oh, bless our God, you peoples,
and let the voice of His praise be heard,
9who keeps our soul among the living,
and does not allow our feet to slip. # Ps 121:3
10For You, O God, have tried us;
You have refined us, as silver is refined. # Ps 17:3; Isa 48:10
11You brought us into the net; # La 1:13
You laid afflictions on our backs.
12You let men ride over our heads; # Isa 51:23
we went through fire and through water;
but You brought us out to a place of abundance.
13I will come into Your house with burnt offerings;
I will perform my vows to You, # Ps 22:25; Ecc 5:4
14which my lips have uttered,
and my mouth promised when I was in trouble.
15I will offer You burnt sacrifices of fat animals,
with the incense of rams;
I will make an offering of bulls with goats. Selah
16Come and hear, all you who fear God, # Ps 34:11
and I will declare what He has done for my soul.
17I cried to Him with my mouth,
and He was extolled with my tongue. # Ps 30:1
18If I regard iniquity in my heart,
the Lord will not hear me; # Pr 28:9; Jas 4:3
19but certainly God has heard me;
He has attended to the voice of my prayer. # Ps 116:1–2
20Blessed be God,
who has not turned away my prayer,
nor His mercy from me.

Psalm 66
For the choir director; a song; a psalm.
1Shout happily to God, all the earth!
2Make music to praise the glory of his name.
Make his praise glorious.
3Say to God,
“How awe-inspiring are your deeds!
Your power is so great that your enemies will cringe in front of you.
4The whole earth will worship you.
It will make music to praise you.
It will make music to praise your name.” Selah
5Come and see what God has done—
his awe-inspiring deeds for Adam’s descendants.
6He turned the sea into dry land.
They crossed the river on foot.
We rejoiced because of what he did there.
7He rules forever with his might.
His eyes watch the nations.
Rebels will not be able to oppose him. Selah
8Thank our God, you nations.
Make the sound of his praise heard.
9He has kept us alive
and has not allowed us to fall.
10You have tested us, O God.
You have refined us in the same way silver is refined.
11You have trapped us in a net.
You have laid burdens on our backs.
12You let people ride over our heads.
We went through fire and water,
but then you brought us out and refreshed us.
13I will come into your temple with burnt offerings.
I will keep my vows to you,
14the vows made by my lips and spoken by my ⌞own⌟ mouth
when I was in trouble.
15I will offer you a sacrifice of fattened livestock for burnt offerings
with the smoke from rams.
I will offer cattle and goats. Selah
16Come and listen, all who fear God,
and I will tell you what he has done for me.
17With my mouth I cried out to him.
High praise was on my tongue.
18If I had thought about doing anything sinful,
the Lord would not have listened ⌞to me⌟.
19But God has heard me.
He has paid attention to my prayer.
20Thanks be to God,
who has not rejected my prayer
or taken away his mercy from me.
