Psalms 31

31
Ps 71:1–3
For the Music Director. A Psalm of David.
1In You, O  Lord, do I seek refuge;
let me never be ashamed; # Ps 25:2
deliver me in Your righteousness. # Ps 143:1
2Incline Your ear to me; # Ps 71:2–3; 86:1
deliver me speedily;
be my rock of refuge,
a strong fortress to save me.
3For You are my rock and my fortress;
for Your name’s sake, # Ps 25:11 lead me and guide me.
4Pull me out of the net that they have hidden for me, # Ps 25:15
for You are my strength.
5Into Your hand I commit my spirit; # Lk 23:46; Ac 7:59
You have redeemed me, O  Lord, God of truth.
6I have hated those who regard worthless idols, # Ps 26:5; Jon 2:8
but I trust in the Lord.
7I will be glad and rejoice in Your lovingkindness,
for You have seen my trouble;
You have known my soul in adversities,
8and have not delivered me into the hand of the enemy; # Dt 32:30
You have set my feet in a broad place. # Job 36:16
9Be gracious to me, O  Lord, for I am in distress;
my eye wastes away from grief, # Ps 6:7
yes, my soul and my body.
10For my life is spent with grief,
and my years with sighing;
my strength fails because of my iniquity,
and my bones waste away. # Ps 38:3
11I have become a reproach among all my enemies,
but especially among my neighbors,
and an object of dread to my acquaintances;
those who see me outside flee from me. # Ps 38:11; 88:8
12I am forgotten like a dead man, out of mind; # Ps 88:4–5
I am like a broken vessel. # Isa 30:14
13For I hear the slander of many;
fear is on every side; # Jer 20:10
while they take counsel together against me, # Mt 27:1
they plot to take away my life.
14But I trust in You, O  Lord;
I say, “You are my God.” # Ps 22:1–2
15My times are in Your hand; # Job 24:1
deliver me from the hand of my enemies,
and from those who persecute me.
16Make Your face shine upon Your servant; # Ps 4:6
save me by Your lovingkindness. # Ps 6:4
17Do not let me be ashamed, O  Lord,
for I have called upon You;
let the wicked be ashamed,
and let them go silently to Sheol. # 1Sa 2:9; Ps 115:17
18Let the lying lips be put to silence,
which speak insolently
with pride and contempt against the righteous. # Ps 94:4; Jude 15
19Oh, how great is Your goodness,
which You have laid up for those who fear You, # Isa 64:4
which You have prepared for those
who take refuge in You before the sons of men!
20You will hide them in the shelter of Your presence
from the plots of man;
You will keep them secretly in a shelter # Ps 27:5
from contentious tongues. # Job 5:21
21Blessed be the Lord,
for He has shown me His marvelous lovingkindness # Ps 17:7
in a fortified city.
22For I said in my haste, # Ps 116:11
“I am cut off from before Your eyes.” # Jon 2:4
Nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications
when I cried out to You.
23Oh, love the Lord, all you His saints! # Ps 30:4
The Lord preserves the faithful,
but fully repays the one who acts in pride. # Ps 94:2
24Be strong, and He will strengthen your heart,
all you who wait for the Lord. # Ps 27:14
