145

A Psalm of Praise. Of David.

1I will exalt you, my God, O King, # Ps 30:1

and I will bless Your name forever and ever.

2Every day I will bless You,

and I will praise Your name forever and ever.

3Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised! # Ps 48:1

His greatness is unsearchable. # Job 5:9; 9:10

4One generation shall commend Your works to another, # Isa 38:19

and shall declare Your mighty acts.

5I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty

and on Your wondrous works.

6Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts,

and I will declare Your greatness.

7They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness,

and shall sing of Your righteousness. # Ps 51:14; Isa 63:7

8The Lord is gracious and full of compassion,

slow to anger and great in mercy. # Nu 14:18; Ps 86:15

9The Lord is good to all, # Ps 100:5; Na 1:7

and His tender mercies are over all His works.

10All Your works shall give thanks to You, O Lord, # Ps 19:1; 103:22

and Your saints shall bless You.

11They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom,

and talk of Your power,

12to make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, # Ps 105:1

and the glorious majesty of His kingdom.

13Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, # 1Ti 1:17

and Your dominion endures throughout all generations.

14The Lord upholds all who fall,

and raises up all who are bowed down. # Ps 37:24; 146:8

15The eyes of all look expectantly to You,

and You give them their food in due season. # Ps 104:27; 136:25

16You open Your hand

and satisfy the desire of every living thing. # Ps 104:28

17The Lord is righteous in all His ways

and merciful in all His works.

18The Lord is near to all who call upon Him,

to all who call upon Him in truth. # Dt 4:7; Jn 4:24

19He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; # Ps 37:4

He also will hear their cry and will save them.

20The Lord preserves all those who love Him, # Ps 31:23; 97:10

but all the wicked will He destroy.

21My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord, # Ps 71:8; 150:6

and all flesh shall bless His holy name

forever and ever.

Great Is the Lord

# 145:1 This psalm is an acrostic poem, each verse beginning with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet A Song of Praise. Of David.

1 # Ps. 99:5, 9 I will extol you, my God and #Ps. 98:6King,

and bless your name forever and ever.

2Every day I will bless you

# [Ps. 146:2] and praise your name forever and ever.

3 # Ps. 48:1 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised,

and his #Job 5:9; [Isa. 40:28]greatness is unsearchable.

4 # Isa. 38:19 One generation shall commend your works to another,

and shall declare your mighty acts.

5On #ver. 12the glorious splendor of your majesty,

and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.

6They shall speak of #[Ps. 78:4]the might of your awesome deeds,

and I will declare your greatness.

7They shall pour forth the fame of your #Isa. 63:7abundant goodness

and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.

8The Lord is #See Ps. 86:5, 15gracious and merciful,

slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

and his mercy is over all that he has made.

11They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom

and tell of your power,

and #ver. 5the glorious splendor of your kingdom.

and #Ps. 146:8raises up all who are bowed down.

15The eyes of all #Ps. 104:27look to you,

and you give them their food in due season.

16You #Ps. 104:28 open your hand;

you #[Ps. 104:21; 147:8]satisfy the desire of every living thing.

17The Lord is #See Ps. 116:5 righteous in all his ways

and #Ps. 18:25; Jer. 3:12kind in all his works.

18The Lord is #[Ps. 34:18; 119:151; Deut. 4:7] near to all who call on him,

to all who call on him #John 4:23, 24in truth.

19He #Prov. 10:24; [John 9:31] fulfills the desire of those who fear him;

he also #Ps. 31:22hears their cry and saves them.

20The Lord #See Ps. 97:10preserves all who love him,

but all the wicked he will destroy.

21My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,
