Psalms 123
123
A Song of Ascents.
1To You I lift up my eyes,
O You who dwell in the heavens.
2#Ps 63:1; 84:2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master,
and as the eyes of a maiden to the hand of her mistress,
so our eyes look upon the Lord our God,
until He has mercy upon us.
3#Ps 79:10; 80:5 Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us,
for we have been completely filled with contempt.
4#Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8 Our soul is exceedingly filled with the ridicule of those who are at ease,
and with the contempt of the proud ones.

Psalm 123
123
1 A Canticle in steps. If the Lord had not been with us, let Israel now say it:
2 if the Lord had not been with us, when men rose up against us,
3 perhaps they would have swallowed us alive. When their fury was enraged against us,
4 perhaps the waters would have engulfed us.
5 Our soul has passed through a torrent. Perhaps, our soul had even passed through intolerable water.
6 Blessed is the Lord, who has not given us into the harm of their teeth.
7 Our soul has been snatched away like a sparrow from the snare of the hunters. The snare has been broken, and we have been freed.
8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
