Psalms 106
106
1Ch 16:34–36
1Praise the Lord!
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; # Ps 105:1
for His mercy endures forever! # 1Ch 16:34
2Who can utter the mighty deeds of the Lord?
Who can declare all His praise?
3Blessed are those who keep justice,
and he who does righteousness at all times! # Ps 15:2; Rev 22:14
4Remember me, O Lord, # Ps 119:132 in Your favor of Your people;
visit me with Your salvation,
5that I may see the prosperity of Your chosen ones, # Ps 105:6, 43
that I may rejoice in the gladness of Your nation,
that I may glory with Your inheritance.
6We, like our fathers, have sinned; # Lev 26:40
we have committed iniquity; we have behaved wickedly. # 1Ki 8:47
7Our fathers in Egypt
did not understand Your wonders; # Ex 14:11–12
they did not remember the abundance of Your mercy, # Ps 78:42
but rebelled by the sea, at the Red Sea.
8Nevertheless He saved them for His name’s sake, # Eze 20:9
that He might make His mighty power known. # Ex 9:16
9He rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up; # Ps 18:15; Na 1:4
and He led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.
10He saved them from the hand of him who hated them,
and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. # Ex 14:30; Ps 107:2
11The waters covered their enemies; # Ex 15:5
not one of them was left. # Ex 14:27–28
12Then they believed His words;
they sang His praise. # Ex 14:31–15:21
13But they soon forgot His works; # Ex 15:24; 16:2
they did not wait for His counsel,
14but lusted exceedingly in the wilderness,
and tested God in the desert. # Ex 17:2; 1Co 10:9
15He gave them their request,
but He sent a wasting disease on them. # Isa 10:16
16They envied Moses in the camp,
and Aaron, the holy priest of the Lord.
17The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan,
and covered the company of Abiram. # Dt 11:6
18A fire broke out in their company;
the flame burned up the wicked.
19They made a calf at Horeb,
and worshipped the molten image.
20Thus they exchanged their glory # Jer 2:11
for the image of an ox that eats grass.
21They forgot God, their Savior,
who had done great things in Egypt, # Ps 106:13
22wondrous works in the land of Ham, # Ps 78:51; 105:23
and marvelous deeds by the Red Sea.
23Therefore He said that He would destroy them, # Dt 9:25
had not Moses, His chosen one, # Ps 105:6
stood before Him in the breach,
to turn away His wrath from destroying them.
24Then they despised the pleasant land; # Nu 14:31
they did not believe His word, # Dt 1:32
25but murmured in their tents,
and did not listen to the voice of the Lord.
26Therefore He raised His hand against them
to overthrow them in the wilderness, # Nu 14:28–35; Eze 20:15
27and swore that He would overthrow their descendants among the nations,
and scatter them among the lands. # Lev 26:33; Ps 44:11
28They joined themselves to Baal of Peor, # Dt 4:3; Hos 9:10
and ate sacrifices offered to the dead. # Dt 26:14
29Thus they provoked Him to anger with their deeds,
and a plague broke out among them.
30Then Phinehas stood up and intervened,
and the plague was stayed.
31And that was counted to him for righteousness
to all generations forever. # Nu 25:11–13
32They angered Him also at the waters of Meribah, # Nu 20:2–13; Ps 81:7
so that it went ill with Moses on their account,
33because they provoked His Spirit,
and he spoke rashly with his lips. # Nu 20:10–11
34They did not destroy the peoples,
as the Lord had commanded them, # Dt 7:16; Jdg 1:21
35but they mingled with the nations
and learned their works; # Jdg 3:5–6
36they served their idols,
which became a snare to them. # Ex 23:33; Dt 7:16
37They sacrificed their sons
and their daughters to the demons, # Dt 32:17; 2Ki 16:3
38and shed innocent blood,
the blood of their sons and daughters,
whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan,
and the land was polluted with blood. # Nu 35:33
39Thus were they defiled by their works # Eze 20:18
and played the whore by their deeds. # Lev 17:7
40Therefore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against His people, # Jdg 2:14
and He abhorred His own inheritance. # Dt 9:29
41He delivered them into the hand of the nations, # Jdg 2:14
and those who hated them ruled over them.
42Their enemies also oppressed them,
and they were brought into subjection under their power.
43Many times He delivered them,
but they were rebellious in their counsel, # Ps 81:12
and were brought low through their iniquity. # Jdg 2:16–18
44Nevertheless, He regarded their affliction
when He heard their cry. # Jdg 3:9; 4:3
45For their sake He remembered His covenant, # Ps 105:8
and relented according to the greatness of His mercy. # Jdg 2:18
46He also caused them to be pitied
by all those who carried them away captive. # Ezr 9:9; Jer 42:12
47Save us, O Lord our God,
and gather us from among the nations,
to give thanks to Your holy name,
and to glory in Your praise.
48Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting!
And let all the people say, “Amen!”
Praise the Lord! # Ps 41:13; 89:52

who always do what is right.
