Luke 12:13-21

Luke 12:13-21 MEV

Someone in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” Jesus said to him, “Man, who appointed Me a judge or an arbitrator between you?” Then He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness. For a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” And He told a parable to them, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have no room to store my crops?’ “Then he said, ‘This I will do: I will pull down my barns and build greater ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take rest. Eat, drink, and be merry.’ “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This night your soul will be required of you. Then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ “So is he who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”
