1 Timothy 6

1#Titus 2:5; Isa 52:5Let as many servants as are under the yoke of slavery count their own masters worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and His doctrine may not be slandered. 2#1Ti 4:11Let those who have believing masters not despise them, because they are brothers. Instead, let them serve as slaves, because those who receive their service are faithful and beloved.
False Teaching and True Wealth
Teach and command these things. 3#1Ti 1:3; 1:10Anyone who teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, to the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to godly doctrine 4#1Ti 1:4; 3:6is conceited and knows nothing. He has a morbid disposition for controversy and verbal disputes, from which come envy, strife, blasphemies, evil speculations, 5#2Ti 3:8; Titus 1:11constant disputes by men of corrupt minds, being destitute of the truth, and supposing that financial gain is godliness. Withdraw yourself from such men.
6#1Ti 4:8; Heb 13:5But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7#Job 1:21; Ps 49:17For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain that we can carry nothing out. 8#Ge 28:20If we have food and clothing, we shall be content with these things. 9#Pr 15:27; 1Ti 3:7But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and harmful lusts, which drown men in ruin and destruction. 10#Dt 16:19For the love of money is the root of all evil. While coveting after money, some have strayed from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
The Good Fight of Faith
11#2Ti 2:22; 3:17But you, O man of God, escape these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness. 12#1Ti 1:18; 1Co 9:25–26Fight the good fight of faith. Lay hold on eternal life, to which you are called and have professed a good profession before many witnesses. 13#1Ti 5:21; Mt 27:11I command you, in the sight of God, who gives life to all things, and in the sight of Christ Jesus, who testified a good confession before Pontius Pilate, 14to keep this commandment without blemish, blameless until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15#1Ti 1:11; Rev 17:14which He, who is the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, will reveal at the proper time. 16#1Ti 1:17; Jn 1:18; Ps 104:2He alone has immortality, living in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen, nor can see. To Him be honor and everlasting power. Amen.
17#Ro 11:20; 1Ti 4:10Command those who are rich in this world that they not be conceited, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who richly gives us all things to enjoy. 18#Ro 12:8; 12:13Command that they do good, that they be rich in good works, generous, willing to share, 19#Lk 16:9; 1Ti 6:12and laying up in store for themselves a good foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of eternal life.
20#Col 2:8; 2Ti 2:16O Timothy, guard that which is committed to your trust. Avoid profane babblings and opposing views from so-called knowledge. 21#2Ti 2:18; Col 4:18By professing it, some have erred concerning the faith.
Grace be with you. Amen.

1 Timothy 6
6
1Let as many as are servants under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and the doctrine be not blasphemed. 2And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but let them serve them the rather, because they that partake of the benefit are believing and beloved. These things teach and exhort.
3If any man teacheth a different doctrine, and consenteth not to sound words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4he is puffed up, knowing nothing, but doting about questionings and disputes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5wranglings of men corrupted in mind and bereft of the truth, supposing that godliness is a way of gain. 6But godliness with contentment is great gain: 7for we brought nothing into the world, for neither can we carry anything out; 8but having food and covering we shall be therewith content. 9But they that are minded to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and hurtful lusts, such as drown men in destruction and perdition. 10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12Fight the good fight of the faith, lay hold on the life eternal, whereunto thou wast called, and didst confess the good confession in the sight of many witnesses. 13I charge thee in the sight of God, who giveth life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed the good confession; 14that thou keep the commandment, without spot, without reproach, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: 15which in its own times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; 16who only hath immortality, dwelling in light unapproachable; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power eternal. Amen.
17Charge them that are rich in this present world, that they be not highminded, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 18that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to communicate; 19laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on the life which is life indeed.
20O Timothy, guard that which is committed unto thee, turning away from the profane babblings and oppositions of the knowledge which is falsely so called; 21which some professing have erred concerning the faith.
Grace be with you.
