Psalms 62
62
For Jeduthun, the choir director: A psalm of David.
1I wait quietly before God,
for my victory comes from him.
2He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will never be shaken.
3So many enemies against one man—
all of them trying to kill me.
To them I’m just a broken-down wall
or a tottering fence.
4They plan to topple me from my high position.
They delight in telling lies about me.
They praise me to my face
but curse me in their hearts. Interlude
5Let all that I am wait quietly before God,
for my hope is in him.
6He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will not be shaken.
7My victory and honor come from God alone.
He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me.
8O my people, trust in him at all times.
Pour out your heart to him,
for God is our refuge. Interlude
9Common people are as worthless as a puff of wind,
and the powerful are not what they appear to be.
If you weigh them on the scales,
together they are lighter than a breath of air.
10Don’t make your living by extortion
or put your hope in stealing.
And if your wealth increases,
don’t make it the center of your life.
11God has spoken plainly,
and I have heard it many times:
Power, O God, belongs to you;
12unfailing love, O Lord, is yours.
Surely you repay all people
according to what they have done.

My Soul Waits for God Alone
To the choirmaster: according to #See Ps. 39, titleJeduthun. A Psalm of David.
1For God alone #See Ps. 33:20 my soul #[Ps. 37:7]waits in silence;
from him comes my salvation.
2 #
Ps. 18:2 He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my #See Ps. 9:9 fortress; #See Ps. 10:6I shall not be greatly shaken.
3How long will all of you attack a man
to batter him,
like #[Isa. 30:13]a leaning wall, a tottering fence?
4They only plan to thrust him down from his #Job 13:11 high position.
They take pleasure in falsehood.
# See Ps. 28:3 They bless with their mouths,
but inwardly they curse. Selah
5For God alone, O #[See ver. 1 above]my soul, wait in silence,
for my hope is from him.
6 # [See ver. 2 above] He only is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
7On God rests my #See Ps. 3:8 salvation and my glory;
my mighty rock, #See Ps. 14:6my refuge is God.
8 # See Ps. 37:3 Trust in him at all times, O people;
# See Ps. 42:4 pour out your heart before him;
God is #[See ver. 7 above]a refuge for us. Selah
9 #
Ps. 39:5; [Isa. 40:17] Those of low estate are but a breath;
those of high estate #[Ps. 116:11]are a delusion;
in the balances they go up;
#
Ps. 39:5; [Isa. 40:17] they are together lighter than a breath.
10Put no trust in extortion;
# See Prov. 1:10-19 set no vain hopes on robbery;
#
Luke 12:15; See Ps. 49:6 if riches increase, set not your heart on them.
11 #
Job 33:14; 40:5 Once God has spoken;
#
Job 33:14; 40:5 twice have I heard this:
that #Rev. 19:1; [Ps. 59:9, 17]power belongs to God,
12and that to you, O Lord, #Ps. 86:5, 15; 103:8; Dan. 9:9 belongs steadfast love.
For you will #See Job 34:11render to a man
according to his work.
