Leviticus 22
22
1The Lord said to Moses, 2“Tell Aaron and his sons to be very careful with the sacred gifts that the Israelites set apart for me, so they do not bring shame on my holy name. I am the Lord. 3Give them the following instructions.
“In all future generations, if any of your descendants is ceremonially unclean when he approaches the sacred offerings that the people of Israel consecrate to the Lord, he must be cut off from my presence. I am the Lord.
4“If any of Aaron’s descendants has a skin disease#22:4 Traditionally rendered leprosy; see note on 13:2a. or any kind of discharge that makes him ceremonially unclean, he may not eat from the sacred offerings until he has been pronounced clean. He also becomes unclean by touching a corpse, or by having an emission of semen, 5or by touching a small animal that is unclean, or by touching someone who is ceremonially unclean for any reason. 6The man who is defiled in any of these ways will remain unclean until evening. He may not eat from the sacred offerings until he has bathed himself in water. 7When the sun goes down, he will be ceremonially clean again and may eat from the sacred offerings, for this is his food. 8He may not eat an animal that has died a natural death or has been torn apart by wild animals, for this would defile him. I am the Lord.
9“The priests must follow my instructions carefully. Otherwise they will be punished for their sin and will die for violating my instructions. I am the Lord who makes them holy.
10“No one outside a priest’s family may eat the sacred offerings. Even guests and hired workers in a priest’s home are not allowed to eat them. 11However, if the priest buys a slave for himself, the slave may eat from the sacred offerings. And if his slaves have children, they also may share his food. 12If a priest’s daughter marries someone outside the priestly family, she may no longer eat the sacred offerings. 13But if she becomes a widow or is divorced and has no children to support her, and she returns to live in her father’s home as in her youth, she may eat her father’s food again. Otherwise, no one outside a priest’s family may eat the sacred offerings.
14“Any such person who eats the sacred offerings without realizing it must pay the priest for the amount eaten, plus an additional 20 percent. 15The priests must not let the Israelites defile the sacred offerings brought to the Lord 16by allowing unauthorized people to eat them. This would bring guilt upon them and require them to pay compensation. I am the Lord who makes them holy.”
Worthy and Unworthy Offerings
17And the Lord said to Moses, 18“Give Aaron and his sons and all the Israelites these instructions, which apply both to native Israelites and to the foreigners living among you.
“If you present a gift as a burnt offering to the Lord, whether it is to fulfill a vow or is a voluntary offering, 19you#22:19 Or it. will be accepted only if your offering is a male animal with no defects. It may be a bull, a ram, or a male goat. 20Do not present an animal with defects, because the Lord will not accept it on your behalf.
21“If you present a peace offering to the Lord from the herd or the flock, whether it is to fulfill a vow or is a voluntary offering, you must offer a perfect animal. It may have no defect of any kind. 22You must not offer an animal that is blind, crippled, or injured, or that has a wart, a skin sore, or scabs. Such animals must never be offered on the altar as special gifts to the Lord. 23If a bull#22:23 Or cow. or lamb has a leg that is too long or too short, it may be offered as a voluntary offering, but it may not be offered to fulfill a vow. 24If an animal has damaged testicles or is castrated, you may not offer it to the Lord. You must never do this in your own land, 25and you must not accept such an animal from foreigners and then offer it as a sacrifice to your God. Such animals will not be accepted on your behalf, for they are mutilated or defective.”
26And the Lord said to Moses, 27“When a calf or lamb or goat is born, it must be left with its mother for seven days. From the eighth day on, it will be acceptable as a special gift to the Lord. 28But you must not slaughter a mother animal and her offspring on the same day, whether from the herd or the flock. 29When you bring a thanksgiving offering to the Lord, sacrifice it properly so you will be accepted. 30Eat the entire sacrificial animal on the day it is presented. Do not leave any of it until the next morning. I am the Lord.
31“You must faithfully keep all my commands by putting them into practice, for I am the Lord. 32Do not bring shame on my holy name, for I will display my holiness among the people of Israel. I am the Lord who makes you holy. 33It was I who rescued you from the land of Egypt, that I might be your God. I am the Lord.”

Leviticus 22
22
1Adonai spoke to Moses, saying:
2“Tell Aaron and his sons to separate themselves from the holy things of Bnei-Yisrael, which they consecrate to Me, so that they would not profane My holy Name. I am Adonai.
3Tell them, if anyone of all your offspring throughout your generations approaches the holy things, which Bnei-Yisrael consecrate to Adonai, while in a state of uncleanness, that soul will be cut off from before Me. I am Adonai.
4“None of the offspring of Aaron who has tza'arat or has a discharge shall eat of the holy things until he is clean. Whoever touches anything that is unclean by the dead or a man whose seed discharges from him
5or who touches any creeping thing that may make him unclean or a person who is unclean—whatever his uncleanness—
6the person who touches any such thing will be unclean until the evening, and is not to eat of the holy things, unless he has bathed his body in water.
7When the sun sets, he will become clean, and afterward he may eat of the holy things, because it is his food.
8A carcass or what is torn by beasts he is not to eat, becoming unclean by it. I am Adonai.
9“Therefore kohanim should keep My charge, so that they do not become guilty of sin and die should they profane it. I am Adonai who sanctifies them.
10“No layman is to eat from the holy offering. A foreigner living with the kohanim or a hired servant is not to eat from the holy offering.
11But if a kohen buys a slave purchased by his money, that one may eat from it. Also those born in his house may eat his food.
12If a kohen’s daughter is married to a layman, she is not to eat from the gifts of the holy offerings.
13But if a kohen’s daughter is a widow or divorced, and has no child and has returned to her father’s house as in her youth, she may eat from her father’s food. But no layman may eat any of it.
14“If anyone eats something holy unwittingly, then he is to add a fifth to it and give the holy offering to the kohen.
15They are not to profane the holy offerings of Bnei-Yisrael, which they lift up to Adonai,
16so causing them to bear the iniquity that brings guilt when they eat the holy offerings. For I am Adonai who sanctifies them.”
17Adonai spoke to Moses saying:
18“Speak to Aaron and to his sons, and to all Bnei-Yisrael, and say to them: Whoever is from the house of Israel, or one of the outsiders in Israel who brings his offering, whether it be any of their vows or any of their freewill offerings that they present to Adonai for a burnt offering—
19for you to be accepted—you are to offer a male without blemish, from the bulls, the sheep or the goats.
20But whatever has a blemish you are not to present, for it will not be acceptable on your behalf.
21Whoever brings a sacrifice of fellowship offerings to Adonai to fulfill a vow or for a freewill offering, either from the herd or the flock, it must be unblemished to be accepted—there must be no defect on it.
22The blind, injured, maimed, having an abnormal growth or festering or a running sore are not to be offered to Adonai, or given as an offering by fire on the altar to Adonai.
23For a freewill offering you may present a bull or a lamb that has any deformity or lacking in its parts, but for a vow it will not be accepted.
24Whatever has its testicles bruised, crushed, broken or cut, you are not to offer to Adonai, nor are you to do so in your own land.
25Moreover, you are not to offer the food of your God from the hand of an outsider from any of these animals. For their corruption is within them—they have a defect. They will not be accepted on your behalf.”
26Adonai spoke to Moses saying:
27“When a bull, a sheep or a goat is born, then it is to remain seven days with its mother, and from the eighth day onward it will be accepted as the gift of an offering made by fire to Adonai.
28If it is a cow or ewe, you are not to slaughter it along with its young, both in one day.
29When you offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving to Adonai, you are to present it so that you may be accepted.
30It is to be eaten on the same day. You are to leave none of it until the morning. I am Adonai.
31“So you are to keep My mitzvot and do them. I am Adonai.
32You must not profane My holy Name, for I will be made holy among Bnei-Yisrael. I am Adonai who makes you holy,
33who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. I am Adonai.”
