John 16:12

You are always in the process of becoming. Who you are becoming may be more or less who you really want to be. As a follower of Jesus Christ, you are meant to become more like Him. One day, one decision, and one action at a time. The Becoming reading plans will look at four facets of discipleship, moving you closer to a life that looks like Jesus.

In John 16, the disciples are nervous, scared, and confused that Jesus is leaving, and the world will turn against them. Jesus tells them that no matter what happens next, they are not alone. The Spirit will guide them, the Father loves them, and Jesus will come back for them. No matter what comes through those doors, Jesus has won the battle; we can trust what we can’t always see.

While the Old Testament priest advocated for the people before God, he was still a sinner. Christ, on the other hand, is our sinless high priest who has nevertheless walked in our shoes, experienced our temptations, and felt an earned and complete sympathy for us. He is not only priest but sacrifice, purchasing our forgiveness; and not only does He forgive, but His Spirit transforms us. He is indeed a Great High Priest!

In a world increasingly dominated by radical individualism, anxiety, and consumerism, finding a sense of peace and purpose can feel like navigating a storm. Reflecting on Jesus' teachings from John 14 and 15, there's a clear invitation to embrace something deeper and more fulfilling: the life-giving presence of the Holy Spirit.
