Craftsmen: Bezalel and Oholiab
1Then the Lord said to Moses, 2“Look, I have specifically chosen Bezalel son of Uri, grandson of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. 3I have filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts. 4He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze. 5He is skilled in engraving and mounting gemstones and in carving wood. He is a master at every craft!
6“And I have personally appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, to be his assistant. Moreover, I have given special skill to all the gifted craftsmen so they can make all the things I have commanded you to make:
7the Tabernacle;#31:7a Hebrew the Tent of Meeting.
the Ark of the Covenant;#31:7b Hebrew the Ark of the Testimony.
the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement;
all the furnishings of the Tabernacle;
8the table and its utensils;
the pure gold lampstand with all its accessories;
the incense altar;
9the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils;
the washbasin with its stand;
10the beautifully stitched garments—the sacred garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments for his sons to wear as they minister as priests;
11the anointing oil;
the fragrant incense for the Holy Place.
The craftsmen must make everything as I have commanded you.”
Instructions for the Sabbath
12The Lord then gave these instructions to Moses: 13“Tell the people of Israel: ‘Be careful to keep my Sabbath day, for the Sabbath is a sign of the covenant between me and you from generation to generation. It is given so you may know that I am the Lord, who makes you holy. 14You must keep the Sabbath day, for it is a holy day for you. Anyone who desecrates it must be put to death; anyone who works on that day will be cut off from the community. 15You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day must be a Sabbath day of complete rest, a holy day dedicated to the Lord. Anyone who works on the Sabbath must be put to death. 16The people of Israel must keep the Sabbath day by observing it from generation to generation. This is a covenant obligation for all time. 17It is a permanent sign of my covenant with the people of Israel. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day he stopped working and was refreshed.’”
18When the Lord finished speaking with Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant,#31:18 Hebrew the two tablets of the Testimony; see note on 25:16. written by the finger of God.

Exodus 31
1¶ And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,
2See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah;
3and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom and in intelligence and in science and in all manner of workmanship,
4to devise cunning works, to work in gold and in silver and in brass,
5and in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship.
6And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and in the desire of all that are wise hearted I have put wisdom that they may make all that I have commanded thee:
7The tabernacle of the testimony and the ark of the testimony and the seat of reconciliation that shall be upon it and all the vessels of the tabernacle
8and the table and its vessels and the pure lampstand with all its vessels and the altar of incense,
9and the altar of burnt offering with all its vessels and the laver and its base
10and the clothes of service and the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons that they may be priests,
11and the anointing oil and aromatic incense for the sanctuary; they shall do according to all that I have commanded thee.
12¶ And the Lord spoke further unto Moses, saying,
13And thou shalt speak unto the sons of Israel, saying, With all this ye shall keep my sabbaths; for it is a sign between me and you throughout your ages; that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you.
14Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you; those that defile it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
15Six days shall work be done; but the seventh, the sabbath of rest, shall be holy to the Lord; whoever does any work in the sabbath day shall surely be put to death.
16Therefore the sons of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their ages for a perpetual covenant.
17It is a sign between me and the sons of Israel for ever; for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.
18And he gave unto Moses, when he finished speaking with him upon Mount Sinai, two tables of the testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.
