2 Thessalonians 1
1
Greetings from Paul
1This letter is from Paul, Silas,#1:1 Greek Silvanus, the Greek form of the name. and Timothy.
We are writing to the church in Thessalonica, to you who belong to God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
2May God our Father#1:2 Some manuscripts read God the Father. and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.
Encouragement during Persecution
3Dear brothers and sisters,#1:3 Greek Brothers. we can’t help but thank God for you, because your faith is flourishing and your love for one another is growing. 4We proudly tell God’s other churches about your endurance and faithfulness in all the persecutions and hardships you are suffering. 5And God will use this persecution to show his justice and to make you worthy of his Kingdom, for which you are suffering. 6In his justice he will pay back those who persecute you.
7And God will provide rest for you who are being persecuted and also for us when the Lord Jesus appears from heaven. He will come with his mighty angels, 8in flaming fire, bringing judgment on those who don’t know God and on those who refuse to obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus. 9They will be punished with eternal destruction, forever separated from the Lord and from his glorious power. 10When he comes on that day, he will receive glory from his holy people—praise from all who believe. And this includes you, for you believed what we told you about him.
11So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. 12Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ.#1:12 Or of our God and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Greetings
1Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, To the community of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Yeshua the Messiah:
2Grace to you and shalom from God our Father and the Lord Yeshua the Messiah!
Troubles From an Eternal Perspective
3We ought to always thank God for you, brothers and sisters, as is appropriate, because your faithfulness grows wonderfully, and the love of each one of you for one another continually increases.
4Therefore, we ourselves boast of you among the communities of God—about your perseverance and faithfulness through all the persecutions and troubles that you endure.
5This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, so that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which indeed you are suffering. (
6For after all, it is right in the sight of God to pay back trouble to those who trouble you,
7and relief to you who suffer trouble along with us. At the revelation of the Lord Yeshua from heaven with His mighty angels
8in flaming fire, He will command judgment on those who do not know God and do not heed the Good News of our Lord Yeshua.
9They will pay the price of eternal ruin, away from the presence of the Lord and the glory of His power—
10on that Day when He comes to be glorified among His kedoshim and marveled at by all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed.)
11With this in mind, we pray for you constantly, that our God may consider you worthy of the calling and fulfill with power every good desire and work of faith,
12so the name of our Lord Yeshua may be glorified in you, and you in Him, in keeping with the grace of our God and the Lord Yeshua the Messiah.
