The Throne Room of Heaven
1After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing #Ezek. 1:1; Rev. 19:11open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a #Rev. 1:10trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”
2Immediately #Rev. 1:10I was in the Spirit; and behold, #1 Kin. 22:19; Is. 6:1; Ezek. 1:26; Dan. 7:9; Rev. 3:21; 4:9a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. 3And He who sat there was #Matt. 5:8; Rev. 21:11like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; #Gen. 9:13–17; Ezek. 1:28; Rev. 10:1and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. 4#Rev. 11:16Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, #Rev. 3:4, 5clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads. 5And from the throne proceeded #Gen. 49:9, 10; Ex. 19:16; Rev. 8:5; 11:19; 16:18lightnings, thunderings, and voices. #Ex. 37:23Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are #2 Sam. 7:12; (Rev. 1:4)the seven Spirits of God.
6Before the throne there was #Ex. 38:8; Ezek. 1:22; Rev. 15:2a sea of glass, like crystal. #Ezek. 1:5; Rev. 4:8; 5:6; 6:1, 6; 7:11; 14:3; 15:7; 19:4And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. 7#Ezek. 1:10; 10:14The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. 8The four living creatures, each having #Is. 6:2six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying:
#Is. 6:3“Holy, holy, holy,
#Rev. 1:8Lord God Almighty,
#Rev. 1:4Who was and is and is to come!”
9Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, #Rev. 1:18who lives forever and ever, 10#Rev. 5:8, 14; 7:11; 11:16; 19:4the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:
11“You#Rev. 1:6; 5:12 are worthy, O Lord,
To receive glory and honor and power;
#Gen. 1:1; John 1:3For You created all things,
And by #Col. 1:16Your will they exist and were created.”

The Heavenly Worship
1After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will show thee things which must be hereafter. 2#Ezek 1.26-28; 10.1. And immediately I was in the Spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. 3And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. 4And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. 5#Exod 19.16; Rev 8.5; 11.19; 16.18; Ezek 1.13; Rev 1.4. And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. 6#Ezek 1.5-10; 10.14. #Ezek 1.22. And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal.
And in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. 7And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. 8#Ezek 1.18; 10.12; Isa 6.2,3; Exod 3.14. And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying,
Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty,
which was, and is, and is to come.
9And when those beasts give glory and honor and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever, 10the four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
11Thou art worthy, O Lord,
to receive glory and honor and power:
for thou hast created all things,
and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
