The Blessedness of Answered Prayer
A Psalm. A Song #Deut. 20:5at the dedication of the house of David.
1I will extol You, O Lord, for You have #Ps. 28:9lifted me up,
And have not let my foes #Ps. 25:2rejoice over me.
2O Lord my God, I cried out to You,
And You #Ps. 6:2; 103:3; (Is. 53:5)healed me.
3O Lord, #Ps. 86:13You brought my soul up from the grave;
You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
4#Ps. 97:12Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His,
And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.
5For #Ps. 103:9; Is. 26:20; 54:7, 8His anger is but for a moment,
#Ps. 63:3His favor is for life;
Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning.
6Now in my prosperity I said,
“I shall never be moved.”
7Lord, by Your favor You have made my mountain stand strong;
#(Deut. 31:17; Ps. 104:29; 143:7)You hid Your face, and I was troubled.
8I cried out to You, O Lord;
And to the Lord I made supplication:
9“What profit is there in my blood,
When I go down to the pit?
#(Ps. 6:5)Will the dust praise You?
Will it declare Your truth?
10Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me;
Lord, be my helper!”
11#Eccl. 3:4; Is. 61:3; Jer. 31:4You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,
12To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

Psalm 30
A psalm by David sung at the dedication of the temple.
1I will honor you highly, O Lord,
because you have pulled me out ⌞of the pit⌟
and have not let my enemies rejoice over me.
2O Lord my God,
I cried out to you for help,
and you healed me.
3O Lord, you brought me up from the grave.
You called me back to life
from among those who had gone into the pit.
4Make music to praise the Lord, you faithful people who belong to him.
Remember his holiness by giving thanks.
5His anger lasts only a moment.
His favor lasts a lifetime.
Weeping may last for the night,
but there is a song of joy in the morning.
6When all was well with me, I said,
“I will never be shaken.”
7O Lord, by your favor you have made my mountain stand firm.
When you hid your face, I was terrified.
8I will cry out to you, O Lord.
I will plead to the Lord for mercy:
9“How will you profit if my blood is shed,
if I go into the pit?
Will the dust ⌞of my body⌟ give thanks to you?
Will it tell about your truth?”
10Hear, O Lord, and have pity on me!
O Lord, be my helper!
11You have changed my sobbing into dancing.
You have removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy
12so that my soul #30:12 Or “glory.” may praise you with music and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever.
