Care of the Tabernacle Lamps
1Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 2#Ex. 27:20, 21“Command the children of Israel that they bring to you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to make the lamps burn continually. 3Outside the veil of the Testimony, in the tabernacle of meeting, Aaron shall be in charge of it from evening until morning before the Lord continually; it shall be a statute forever in your generations. 4He shall be in charge of the lamps on #Ex. 25:31; 31:8; 37:17the pure gold lampstand before the Lord continually.
The Bread of the Tabernacle
5“And you shall take fine flour and bake twelve #Ex. 25:30; 39:36; 40:23cakes with it. Two-tenths of an ephah shall be in each cake. 6You shall set them in two rows, six in a row, #Ex. 25:23, 24; 1 Kin. 7:48; 2 Chr. 4:19; 13:11; Heb. 9:2on the pure gold table before the Lord. 7And you shall put pure frankincense on each row, that it may be on the bread for a #Lev. 2:2, 9, 16memorial, an offering made by fire to the Lord. 8#Num. 4:7; 1 Chr. 9:32; 2 Chr. 2:4; Matt. 12:4, 5Every Sabbath he shall set it in order before the Lord continually, being taken from the children of Israel by an everlasting covenant. 9And #1 Sam. 21:6; Matt. 12:4; Mark 2:26; Luke 6:4it shall be for Aaron and his sons, #Ex. 29:33; Lev. 8:31and they shall eat it in a holy place; for it is most holy to him from the offerings of the Lord made by fire, by a perpetual statute.”
The Penalty for Blasphemy
10Now the son of an Israelite woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the children of Israel; and this Israelite woman’s son and a man of Israel fought each other in the camp. 11And the Israelite woman’s son #Ex. 22:28blasphemed the name of the Lord and #Job 1:5, 11, 22; Is. 8:21cursed; and so they #Ex. 18:22, 26brought him to Moses. (His mother’s name was Shelomith the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.) 12Then they #Num. 15:34put him in custody, #Num. 27:5that the mind of the Lord might be shown to them.
13And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 14“Take outside the camp him who has cursed; then let all who heard him #Deut. 13:9; 17:7lay their hands on his head, and let all the congregation stone him.
15“Then you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Whoever curses his God #Lev. 20:17; Num. 9:13shall bear his sin. 16And whoever #Ex. 20:7; 1 Kin. 21:10, 13; (Matt. 12:31; Mark 3:28, 29)blasphemes the name of the Lord shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall certainly stone him, the stranger as well as him who is born in the land. When he blasphemes the name of the Lord, he shall be put to death.
17#Gen. 9:6; Ex. 21:12; Num. 35:30, 31; Deut. 19:11, 12; 27:24‘Whoever kills any man shall surely be put to death. 18#Lev. 24:21Whoever kills an animal shall make it good, animal for animal.
19‘If a man causes disfigurement of his neighbor, as #Ex. 21:24he has done, so shall it be done to him— 20fracture for #Ex. 21:23; Deut. 19:21fracture, #(Matt. 5:38, 39)eye for eye, tooth for tooth; as he has caused disfigurement of a man, so shall it be done to him. 21And whoever kills an animal shall restore it; but whoever kills a man shall be put to death. 22You shall have #Ex. 12:49; Lev. 19:33–37; Num. 9:14; 15:15, 16, 29the same law for the stranger and for one from your own country; for I am the Lord your God.’ ”
23Then Moses spoke to the children of Israel; and they took outside the camp him who had cursed, and stoned him with stones. So the children of Israel did as the Lord commanded Moses.

The Lamp
1The Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 2Command the people of Israel to bring you pure oil of beaten olives for the lamp, that a light may be kept burning regularly. 3Aaron shall set it up in the tent of meeting, outside the curtain of the covenant,#24.3 Or treaty, or testament; Heb eduth to burn from evening to morning before the Lord regularly; it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations. 4He shall set up the lamps on the lampstand of pure gold#24.4 Heb pure lampstand before the Lord regularly.
The Bread for the Tabernacle
5You shall take choice flour, and bake twelve loaves of it; two-tenths of an ephah shall be in each loaf. 6You shall place them in two rows, six in a row, on the table of pure gold.#24.6 Heb pure table 7You shall put pure frankincense with each row, to be a token offering for the bread, as an offering by fire to the Lord. 8Every sabbath day Aaron shall set them in order before the Lord regularly as a commitment of the people of Israel, as a covenant forever. 9They shall be for Aaron and his descendants, who shall eat them in a holy place, for they are most holy portions for him from the offerings by fire to the Lord, a perpetual due.
Blasphemy and Its Punishment
10A man whose mother was an Israelite and whose father was an Egyptian came out among the people of Israel; and the Israelite woman's son and a certain Israelite began fighting in the camp. 11The Israelite woman's son blasphemed the Name in a curse. And they brought him to Moses—now his mother's name was Shelomith, daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan— 12and they put him in custody, until the decision of the Lord should be made clear to them.
13The Lord said to Moses, saying: 14Take the blasphemer outside the camp; and let all who were within hearing lay their hands on his head, and let the whole congregation stone him. 15And speak to the people of Israel, saying: Anyone who curses God shall bear the sin. 16One who blasphemes the name of the Lord shall be put to death; the whole congregation shall stone the blasphemer. Aliens as well as citizens, when they blaspheme the Name, shall be put to death. 17Anyone who kills a human being shall be put to death. 18Anyone who kills an animal shall make restitution for it, life for life. 19Anyone who maims another shall suffer the same injury in return: 20fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth; the injury inflicted is the injury to be suffered. 21One who kills an animal shall make restitution for it; but one who kills a human being shall be put to death. 22You shall have one law for the alien and for the citizen: for I am the Lord your God. 23Moses spoke thus to the people of Israel; and they took the blasphemer outside the camp, and stoned him to death. The people of Israel did as the Lord had commanded Moses.
