David and Mephibosheth
1David asked, “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”
2Now there was a servant of Saul’s household named Ziba. They summoned him to appear before David, and the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?”
“At your service,” he replied.
3The king asked, “Is there no one still alive from the house of Saul to whom I can show God’s kindness?”
Ziba answered the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan; he is lame in both feet.”
4“Where is he?” the king asked.
Ziba answered, “He is at the house of Makir son of Ammiel in Lo Debar.”
5So King David had him brought from Lo Debar, from the house of Makir son of Ammiel.
6When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed down to pay him honor.
David said, “Mephibosheth!”
“At your service,” he replied.
7“Don’t be afraid,” David said to him, “for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.”
8Mephibosheth bowed down and said, “What is your servant, that you should notice a dead dog like me?”
9Then the king summoned Ziba, Saul’s steward, and said to him, “I have given your master’s grandson everything that belonged to Saul and his family. 10You and your sons and your servants are to farm the land for him and bring in the crops, so that your master’s grandson may be provided for. And Mephibosheth, grandson of your master, will always eat at my table.” (Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.)
11Then Ziba said to the king, “Your servant will do whatever my lord the king commands his servant to do.” So Mephibosheth ate at David’s#9:11 Septuagint; Hebrew my table like one of the king’s sons.
12Mephibosheth had a young son named Mika, and all the members of Ziba’s household were servants of Mephibosheth. 13And Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, because he always ate at the king’s table; he was lame in both feet.

Davida le Mefiboshete
1Davida a botsa, a re: “Na ho sa na le e mong ya setseng wa ntlo ya Saule, eo nka mo etsetsang molemo ka baka la Jonathane?”
2Ho ne ho ena le mohlanka wa lelapa la Saule, ya neng a bitswa Siba. Ha a se a bitseditswe ho Davida, kgosi ya re ho yena: “Na ke wena Siba?”
Yena a re: “Ke nna mohlanka wa hao, Siba.”
3Kgosi ya re: “Na ho sa na le e mong wa lelapa la Saule, eo nka mmontshang lerato la Modimo?”
Siba a re ho kgosi: “Jonathane o ntse a ena le mora, feela o holofetse maoto.”
4Kgosi ya re ho yena: “O kae?”
Siba a re ho kgosi: “O Lo-Dabare, lapeng la Makiri, mora wa Amiele.”
5Yaba kgosi Davida o roma maqosa Lo-Dabare ho ya lata Mefiboshete, lapeng la Makiri, mora wa Amiele.
6Ha Mefiboshete, mora wa Jonathane, setloholo sa Saule, a fihla ho Davida, a itihela fatshe ka sefahleho, a isa hlompho.
Davida a re: “Mefiboshete!”
Yena a araba, a re: “Ke nna enwa, mohlanka wa hao!”
7Davida a re ho yena: “O se ke wa tshaba, hobane ruri ke tla o etsetsa molemo ka baka la ntatao Jonathane. Ke tla o buseletsa naha yohle ya ntataomoholo Saule, mme ke tla o fepa kamehla.”
8Mefiboshete a obama, a re: “Ebe nna, mohlanka wa hao, ke eng, hoo o ka tsotellang ntja e shweleng, e kang nna tjee?”
9Jwale kgosi ya bitsa Siba, mohlanka wa Saule, ya re ho yena: “Tsohle tseo e neng e le tsa Saule le tsa lelapa lohle la hae, ke di neile mora wa monga hao. 10Ka baka leo, wena le bara ba hao, le bahlanka ba hao, le tla mo lemela, le be le mo kotulele, e le hore mora wa monga hao a tle a be le dijo. Empa Mefiboshete, mora wa monga hao, o tla ja le nna kamehla.” Siba o ne a ena le bara ba leshome le metso e mehlano, le bahlanka ba mashome a mabedi.
11Yaba Siba o re ho kgosi: “Nna, mohlanka wa hao, ke tla etsa tsohle tseo monga ka a ntaelang tsona.”
Mefiboshete a ja le kgosi, jwalokaha eka ke e mong wa bara ba kgosi.
12Mefiboshete o ne a ena le mora ya neng a sa le monyenyane, lebitso la hae e le Mmika. Bohle ba neng ba phela lapeng la Siba e ne e le bahlanka ba Mefiboshete. 13Yaba Mefiboshete o aha Jerusalema, a nna a ja le kgosi, le hoja a ne a holofetse maoto a mabedi hakaalo.
