Psalm 80
To the Overcomer upon Shoshannim, {lilies} A testimony of Asaph: A Psalm.
1¶ Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubim, shine forth.
2In the presence of Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength and come and save us.
3Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
4O Lord God of the hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?
5Thou dost feed them with the bread of tears and give them tears to drink in great measure.
6Thou dost make us a strife unto our neighbours, and our enemies laugh at us among themselves.
7Turn us again, O God of the hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
8¶ Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt; thou hast cast out the Gentiles and planted it.
9Thou didst prepare room before it and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the earth.
10The hills were covered with the shadow of it, and its boughs were like the cedars of God.
11She sent out her boughs unto the sea and her branches unto the river.
12Why hast thou then broken down her hedges, so that all those who pass by the way pluck her?
13The boar out of the wood wastes it, and the wild beast of the field devours it.
14Return, we beseech thee, O God of the hosts: look down from heaven and behold and visit this vine
15and the vineyard which thy right hand has planted and the branch that thou didst make strong for thyself.
16 It is burned with fire; it is cut down; they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.
17Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou didst make strong for thyself,
18so we will not go back from thee. Thou shalt quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.
19Turn us again, O Lord God of the hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

Psalm 80
For the choir director; according to shoshannim eduth; by Asaph; a psalm.
1Open your ears, O Shepherd of Israel,
the one who leads ⌞the descendants of⌟ Joseph like sheep,
the one who is enthroned over the angels.#80:1 Or “cherubim.”
2Appear in front of Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh.
Wake up your power, and come to save us.
3O God, restore us and smile on us
so that we may be saved.
4O Lord God, commander of armies, how long will you smolder in anger
against the prayer of your people?
5You made them eat tears as food.
You often made them drink ⌞their own⌟ tears.
6You made us a source of conflict to our neighbors,
and our enemies made fun of us.
7O God, commander of armies, restore us and smile on us
so that we may be saved.
8You brought a vine from Egypt.
You forced out the nations and planted it.
9You cleared the ground for it
so that it took root and filled the land.
10Its shade covered the mountains.
Its branches covered the mighty cedars.
11It reached out with its branches to the Mediterranean Sea.
Its shoots reached the Euphrates River.
12Why did you break down the stone fences around this vine?
All who pass by are picking its fruit.
13Wild boars from the forest graze on it.
Wild animals devour it.
14O God, commander of armies, come back!
Look from heaven and see!
Come to help this vine.
15Take care of what your right hand planted,
the son you strengthened for yourself.
16The vine has been cut down and burned.
Let them be destroyed by the threatening look on your face.
17Let your power rest on the man you have chosen,
the son of man you strengthened for yourself.
18Then we will never turn away from you.
Give us life again, and we will call on you.
19O Lord God, commander of armies, restore us, and smile on us
so that we may be saved.
